Rumored Artem Vakhitov rejects DW contenders contract? Set to Glory instead?

dont blame him for going back to what he's great at and getting more money and the biggest possible fight in that sport.

Not for nothing but he said he wanted Alex's deal and UFC could have given him that but we saw Alex, we saw Izzy, you see the energy of Doumbe. You could see theres something there with those guys and I never saw that with him in mma.

There also was no juice to him vs Alex like there was with Alex and Izzy where you'd try and fast track him to an Alex fight.

They weren't even interested in signing him after his contender series fight, Alex had to tell Dana to give him a shot.

Doumbe was the real fumble, Artem I don't think was taking to MMA as well as Cedric did, even if he's fighting in a weaker division. Cedric seems to just be on point everywhere, while Vakhitov looked a bit underwhelming in his CS fight against a can, very real chance he would've ended up getting exposed like Diniz did.

Yeh, I know they weren't initially interested in Vak.

Doumbe was for sure a way worse fumble.

I know Vak looked pretty crap on DWCS.

I'm just really really biased because I'm a big fan of his haha.

It's funny how much more UFC pays than Glory, yet people are stuck on UFC low fighter pay. Alex and Izzy put the work in and won more money than they would've in kickboxing. You have to be dedicated to UFC and work up ranks quickly.

Probably without Pereira as champ there wasn't going to be a fast pass to title.

It largely depends though, Artem was not going to get anywhere near the same amount of money that he was making in Glory for his first UFC contract, let alone the amount he'll be paid to fight Rico.

They didn't even want to get him on the same deal that Pereira had when he first got picked up, which is what Vakhitov was looking for.

The pay in Kickboxing is eclipsed by the UFC, but if you're an elite guy still near your prime you'd be hard pressed to start over again by making a fraction of your current pay.

And even then you might end up in Doumbe's position where the UFC isn't willing to shell out cash still.

That's a good point. Guaranteed higher pay vs taking a risk in UFC which could be higher pay if it pays off. Read that the guy has a family to provide for.

I guess it begs the question why Vakhitov even had to go through DWCS to join UFC, we've seen them sign some shitty LHWs and HWs. Doumbe is a good point. He had everything the UFC could ask for with personality and skills, yet they let him slip away. PFL has been sitting on him for over a year, very strange, not sure if that route was much better.

I saw his fight in Open FC I think it was and he didn't look anywhere near UFC ready. I was kinda surprised they even put him on Contenders at that point but they found someone similarly inexperienced that he could beat. I think he'd have got rolled by really low level guys in the UFC based on what I saw of him in MMA.

It's not like Doumbe where you could see the dude was working in a low stance and developing a very good sprawl and get ups even when he was fighting on French regional shows.

It was because of the visa and travel restrictions that were getting placed on Russians.

It made it a nightmare for Glory to work with Russian fighters, so they just put the russians on ice for a while, and brought them back once things settled a bit.

It wasn't because Russia was invading Ukraine. If they could have kept them and knew things would run smoothly they would have.
In mma you have Russian fighters fighting from Argentinian to Japanese (Thai, Vietnamese) promotions yet visa and travel restrictions is a big problem for Glory?

Yeh, that's what they said.

Argentinian, Japanese, etc that you mentioned probably weren't have visa issues like the Russians were at the time though.

What similarities does a regional Argentinian MMA promotion have with a British kickboxing promotion focused on the Netherlands?

Seems like mma promotions in Asia, Europe, North and South America was able to find a way to bring Russians to their events. Regarding Argentina probably I was wrong and fighters there are the Russians that moved to Argentina.
