Artem Vakhitov, famous in the MMA community for defeating Alex Pereira in a 2021 kickboxing match, has seemingly rejected his UFC contract in favor of a return to GLORY kickboxing.

Apparently, Vakhitov is set to challenge Rico Verhoeven for the HW title.
Considering the contracts offered by the contender series, that looks a pretty better move tbh.

(he was offered a standard contender series contract which is basically the UFC version of minimum wage, the lowest fighter pay tier they have, according to his management as quoted in this thread)

I don't think he was ever that interested in MMA but Glory had a ban on Russian fighters so he gave it a go. Even with fights that were absolutely tailored to him he didn't really look like an MMA natural.

Not that much. Someone like Artem probably gets 80-100k per fight. So kind of like fighting for PFL or something.

But he might fight Rico (who makes half a million per fight at least) at Glory 100. I assume he'd get a good purse for that.

However...

i am going to guess, and pretty confident here, that being a championship tier kickboxer probably pays better than a "who the fuck is that guy" tier 3-1 nobody in MMA.

This guy is a 5x defending champ, with 2 separate title runs at LHW. He is a big deal kickboxing.

Is he gonna Alex Pereira speedrun the UFC?
If he does that will absolutely pay better
If not, fighting at the headliner/championship level in Glory Kickboxing I am guessing pays better than scrub level MMA even in UFC.

Yeah they signed him having won on DWCS, unusual for them to agree to release him under contract though - although as @Hellowhosthat said, he didnt look an impressive MMA fighter.

He had already gotten signed after being on Contender Series, what happened now is that he asked to be released to instead fight Rico in Glory.

Better choice for him going off how he looked against that can he fought, and the fact he dislocated his elbow I think in his only MMA loss. He'd have gone the way of Diniz and gotten mauled by someone who could take him down.
