Armatix Smart Gun

Yeah, we should ban bridges so people cant jump off them.....

Installing a safety feature in a gun is =/= banning it. A better analogy would be handrails. They are a must on bridges, balkonies etc.

we should also ban the use of prescription meds since many teens are popping pills and dying of overdose......

PRESCRIPTION being the operative word.

So why are all the stereotypical right wingers so offended by this?

Is it because it forces them to acknowledge the fact that juvenile suicide and accidental deaths using firearms occur at such a high frequency?

No its because they are very emotional (froth at the mouth emotional) when it comes to their lives true love.

Seems like a weird thing to rail against, unless it's made mandatory.
To use the pool analogy, it'd be like protesting against pool fencing (which, funnily enough, actually is mandatory here).
I wouldn't want to get one until it'd been proven reliable, but then I don't use firearms for self defence, so secure storage is a better option anyway.

This is still a bad analogy. It is like giving the option to have handrails on a bridge, not requiring handrails.

It couldn't nor should ever be made mandatory.

It does open up sales for certain situations and people, just another choice, and a safer one for people who have a concern about it.

I have no idea why the reaction from pro gun groups, and the hourly constitution readers.

us "pro gun people" aren't stupid and dont believe whatever garbage comes out of a politicians mouth or anyone from government for that matter.

at first is this a good idea that would open up a small market of buyers that would normally not purchase a standard firearm? YES

however, we see the government control potential and the future says politicians will jump on this and make a push to make it mandatory and it will be the "wave of the future" so get with the times and the change coming.....

next thing you know all standard guns will be forced to be turned in to be updated to this or destroyed and replaced with one of these electronic controlled firearms......

then before you know it, the people will be disarmed...... a beautiful way to manipulate people...... you may think just because i said all this means im some tin foil hat wearing conspiracy theory nut, however this could happen and there's a pretty high chance of it actually happening

this could easily get pushed as a new age safety measure and initially pushed as pro-gun..... however there is a much more complicated plan in place..... after making all republicans look stupid for not wanting their kids to be safe they will pass this law...... then make it mandatory....... then turn em all off

because after all, the government wants a way to control its people, especially under the state of emergency and you cannot control a free and armed society.....

random question, what do you use for self defense if not a firearm?

Right. But even should this electronic safety become mandatory it would not be anything like a gun ban. It would be like having made seat belts mandatory.

Well hopefully when a 8 year old finds mommy's loaded gun and starts to play with it, he didn't go to Radio Shack first and buy the required cell phone jammer parts.

You see no use for it at all?

Throttlehead right wing NRA members absolutely hate this gun or the idea. Your never going to get any member of the NRA to support any kind of electronic checking technology. They drew a line in the sand when it came to trigger locks. Guns that are controlled via some kind electronic ID will not fly with them. They hate any ideas especially that happens when President Obama's in office they think the government is involved in some way. Welcome to the new reality NRA stopped a gun seller in New Jersey from importing these guns and selling them.

I think I posted something about this a while ago. I didn't like it then and I don't like it now.

i like how anti gunners that are usually liberals that piss on job creation use this as an analogy for loss in business......

poor small business, if they would have been accepted they could have sold some items..... first off, when the fuck did liberals ever give a damn about business owners? don't they all hate business owners because in their view all business owners are greedy profit driven anti humanitarian pieces of scum???

lets face it, this would have taken a whopping .001% of annual gun sales across america..... it wouldn't have put a dent in the market...... it would have a bunch of publicity from the media and their liberal agenda but that wont increase sales it will just be hype, the same hype that Obamacare got from the liberal media however their numbers are poor and very low.....

this would create every bit of 10 jobs...... however, the keystone pipeline could create up to 3.5 MILLION jobs and they piss all over that idea..... so dont sit here and cry cry cry about losing jobs when the left piss on REAL job creation daily.

I'm not short on options, but I've never needed a weapon for self defence.
I bought my guns just for plinking/hunting/the eradication of feral pests.

No. Your accusation is generalized unfounded and unproven. I could just as well right that conservatives like to dine on babys.

Put aside the fact that you obviously have no clue about the numbers of Obamacare you also completely miss the point.

The guy was trying to sell sth which is neither illegal nor (any more)dangerous. It is like ppl preassuring a car dealer not to sell yellow cars. It shows that the gun 'rights' side is as much about personal freedom then they are about free love.

It also shows the kind of irrational bully mentality that their spokespeople have. They make the pro gun side look like a mindless hysteric bunch of hicks - kind of demeaning to most of them.

The firearm is ugly.

I wouldn't purchase a firearm that utilizes this technology, but more power to the company and whoever does want something like this. I'm sure this fills a niche somehow, somewhere.

GUN RIGHTS! (Except when you want to own a firearm that has a built in safety mechanism to prevent accidental discharge and juvenile suicide).

GUN RIGHTS! (Except when you want to own a firearm that has a built in safety mechanism to prevent accidental discharge and juvenile suicide).

Well it kinda defeats the point of a handgun - after all accidental discharge and juvenile suicide are helped by guns much more then crime is deterred.

Now I remember, it was brought up during a testimony or budget discussion by Eric Holder. He discussed the RFID chip and smart technology.

So what are people's feelings on the Armatix smart gun technology?

http://www.armatix.us/?L=7

You have to wear a watch or bracelet to fire the gun, using RFID technology. If the watch is farther than 10 inches from gun, the firearm will not work.

Due to talk of mandating this technology nation wide (I forget the representatives name who brought up the idea.), I've actually purchased a few extra handguns in the last year. Some extremely reliable and durable Ruger revolvers. These guns will last several lifetimes. I also will not be retro fitting any of my fire arms to this technology.

This is my personal "line-in-the-sand". I will not turn in my fire arms, I will not register my fire arms, and I will not place a technology that the government can "kill-switch" at any time it sees fit. I don't care how harsh they make the penalty, 5 years, 20 years, 50 years, Life in Prison, or even the Death Penalty. I will not comply.

As another famous dissenter once said:
They can imprison me, beat my body, break my bones, even kill me.

Then....... They will have my dead body........

NOT MY OBEDIENCE!

People can buy and sell whatever the fuck they want. The NRA has ZERO power in blocking this before it gets to the mass market.
