Before getting into scoring, just want to say this fight has the combined highest level of MMA Grappling I think I have ever seen. Absolutely incredible wrestling scrambles in this fight, only other fight I can think of that compares is Beniel vs Gamrot.
Karo vs Diego had some great moments too.

Now to scoring, watching this fight live I scored it 48-47 Arman with round 4 being the swing round.
This time around I scored it 49-46 Arman & I actually think you could squint and score this fight 50-45, though I don't think that's really fair.
I actually only gave Gamrot round 5, thought Arman got the rest of the rounds, but round 4 was a bit of a toss-up. No way Gamrot won though, how was this a Unanimous Decision?
Were judges incentivized because Islam had never fought Gamrot before and Arman is so young? I don't know, something fishy about that to me.

Anyways, great scrap. I think Arman gives anyone in that division a tough fight, would love to see him vs Islam again, but him vs Charles or Beniel would also be bangers.
Arman and Gamrot both would destroy Poirier and Gaethje imo.

TLDR, Arman should have won.

I don't remember but feel like the fight was super close and could have gone either way.

Arman should get Chandler if Conor doesn't fight him

Check out Tim Elliott vs. Louis Smolka. I think you'll like it.

Would love to see Arman v Charles at some point. Arman is a front runner and Charles is very dangerous especially early on..this fight would be violent as f**k.

This decision still pisses me off. Arman clearly won 49-46, 48-47 at worst. Arman knocked Gamrot down in the 4th round as well, no way you can give Gamrot that round. Stupid judges halted Arman's rise to the top.

I thought Arman won. He landed a lot of good kicks in that fight that the commentators seemed to ignore too.

Tough situation. Overall imo this is the current meta of the game. Basically how Merab beat Petr.
Force the grappling that much, that your opponent has to spend the majority of the round denying, or trying to deny, your grappling advancements.
As long as a guy is good enough a grappler to not get consistently reversed into a disadvantageous position, that can be enough to steal rounds even when losing the minority rest of the round that takes place standing.
As long as the difference in striking isn't night and day, the striker has very little chance to win such a matchup.
Volume grappling is a pain in the ass to deal with.

Of course he got screwed, there is no such thing as some nonsense people say "could have gone either way". Arman won and Gamrot lost, that would be the right judging.

That link simply displays that most viewing the fight from the televised angle believe the fight went the same way. Judges don't have that privilege. That's a good thing. Maybe that's the sole issue and we need that fixed.

Or are these independent judges cageside like judges? Are they listening to Rogan and DC and believing what they say, like most casual viewers? There's a lot to this.

I watched that fight too and remember clearly thinking it was a robbery

That's almost the sole issue, some places they have cams to see a moment, but not the entire fight to review some things here and there, adjust the points. After all, the fight is counted as round by round and it's much more complex than boxing. MMA rules and regulations are so damn weak. But judges and commissions corruption would still be a main problem.

About DC and Rogan come on, they suck hard and are UFC/bookmakers shills, who listens to them? Almost always what they say you can be certain that the opposite is right instead. Goof by goof I preferred Mike Goldberg instead, at least he was genuinely funny talking those naive and nonsense comments lol.

Yeah, I agree. I thought the grappling was essentially even but the most significant strikes/damage were done by the kicks Arman was throwing.
