Media Ariel Helwani putting together a combat sports journalism super team at Yahoo

He didn’t even bring the 2 guys that have been with him for years on the mma hour?

The nose knows no loyalty.
Atleast do some research before making dumb statements. Everyone from the mmahour is with him on his new platform.

Bro just out here hating like your typical hater. Just making shit up that isn't actually a thing.

Can't put my finger on it, maybe some pretty overt arrogance, but never liked that guy. Seems fake af too.

Ariel is the greatest since sliced bread, leave him alone.

Keep in mind that Ariel does a shit ton of interviews, something like 3 hrs worth of interviews. Of course you'll get a few morsels. But generally speaking for the amount of speaking time, they suck ass. 40 minute interview with 1 interesting tidbit is terrible ROI.
Again, an entire new cycle is based on those interviews. That's just objectively not true.

Your thread title is oxymoronic because it includes helweenies name

Do any of you remember the Dr Death (Pro Rassler) interview on 20/20 in the 1980s? It permanently shifted the entire public narrative about pro wrestling.
Journalism can have a big impact and Ariel might have some exposes planned. El Douche has made some enemies over the years. You never know.....

@HHJ I'm not going to read the entire thread, but I like the way you've run roughshod over dumb shit ideas so far

Are you talking about the 20/20 interview with Eddy Mansfield?

Ariel Helwani, Yahoo news, So Dana, how is the Sphere event coming along? How many tickets have been sold? Is it profitable? Why isnt Dan Ige featured on the card? He was promised a spot when he came in on hours notice against Diego Lopes.

Also can you go into more detail about the current PED testing protocols with the departure of USADA? What are the similarities, what are the differences?

Oh and can you give us details on why Ankalaev was not given the title shot and instead it was given to a man who was suspended for PED violation?
Ankalaev already had a title shot? Am I missing something?

Are you illiterate? The context of his question makes it clear he's not saying Ank has never received a title shot in his life, but is referring to Ankalaev being passed over (as the highest-ranked guy in the division to not fight Alex) for the number 8 guy who's coming off a steroid suspension.

It's a good question about a shitty situation that deserves answers and I think we're all tired of people replying like they don't know how to read.

I'm gonna assume they mean pro rasslin' when it says wrestling under the journo's pics.

Yea I get that, I’m just saying real fans are annoyed by her because serious journalists don’t get the same kind of access.
Well their anger is misdirected.

She has nothing to do with journalism, first of all. She's not even trying to be one. She is just there cos she works for the UFC and her hotness disarms the fighters and you wind up getting fun content. FUN. Not serious. She works for the UFC. She WOULD have access. Otherwise what is the fucking point of having her?

Second. They fuckin hate Ariel, and while they can stop him from appearing at their events, they cant stop fighters from appearing on his show where he does long form interviews with everybody. Nina Drama doesnt have nothing to do with any of that. She works FOR THE UFC.

She's pretty, but I don't watch her "interviews". Everything she does is a little too corny.
That's fine. Its not for everyone. I think shes funny, but I dont go out of my way to watch it either. I dont have any problem with it and dont demean at all what she does, which is entertainment. Quoting "interviews" is missing the point.

Oh wow, they're actually covering wrestling now? That's pretty legit.

...

Wait, nevermind, they're covering pro wrestling.

An elite team of super-journalists that cover pro wrestling? Fuck off.
Puroresu is the strongest.
