Are you a melatonin user ?

I think I’ve developped an addiction from it …

Dependency and likely built up a resistance to its' effects. It can happen with sleep meds. At one point (years ago) I was taking like 50-60 mg of Ambien and it wasn't doing a damn thing, stopped that right away. My sleep patterns suck now, but that's because it can be even worse to take that shit all the time.

Mostly when I am adjusting for nasty 10+ hour jetlags. Occasionally I use it when I notice I am not sleepy at all when its bed time. But no side effets, but I just take one 5mg pill each time.

Melatonin only works for me on the first and maybe the second night, and that's it

Hello Sherbros, do you guy receive nasty, negative effects from taking melatonin ? I often do bad dreams or nightmare when i take them....i've been taking them for about a year now....it does the job for me. But the negative efffect can be very depleasant.
It is hard to wake up and I feel hungover if I take 10 mg. It doesnt work if I take less. Other than that all good.

As a person who has been living with extreme insomnia my whole life, melatonin not only doesn't help me sleep but mentally it makes me feel like shit. But it's not meant for people like me.

Melatonin does give some people wild dreams, but it's my understanding it's not meant for daily use. Pretty sure my doctor has said it is more to be used like a reset for abnormal sleep patterns.

yeah, that makes sense. i used to take it in my thirties when i was still partying hard and found it hard to sleep at night. now, i just smoke some green.

.33 to .75 mg seems to work the best for me. Definitely have weird, vivid dreams on higher doses and wake up feeling like crap.

I actually took one last night but I try not to make it habit. I get periodic episodes of insomnia so that's when I use them.

I used it over a month and it was good at first but over time I developed a tolerance.

By the time I got to the bottom of the bottle the last couple doses did nothing at all.

Yea. Three 10mg pills along with weed. Still barely sleep, and wake up tired. No nightmares or anything. I rarely remember my dreams.

External melatonin downregulates your endogenous production. Using it continuously means it's not doing anything special anymore. If you stop it you'll have insomnia for a few days while your endogenous production ramps back up. Really you should be looking at what caused the insomnia in the first place. Coffee too late? Too much screen time at night (easily solvable with sepia filters)? Using daylight bulbs (3000K-5000K) as lighting at night? Literal hospital or insane asylum lighting.

If the insomnia is idiopathic and unsolvable then I suppose you could do some sort of herb tincture rotation. Alcohol tinctures = better because it extracts the components of the plant more. Tons of herbs have sleepy effects. Valerian, passionflower, lemon balm, hops, mugwort (bonus lucid dreams), california poppy, kava, skullcap, etc. I've tried valerian and hops and they worked. Most things stop working if used continuously, so figure out a few that work for you and then rotate them.

Yeah lately, and it gives me weird dreams but nothing terrible. Last night I dreamt that I was at one of my old jobs, I had been gone for a month and it was my first day back. I was in a wheelchair for some reason and my girl (she also used to work there with me) was helping me make coffee. <EdgyBrah>

I've always found that just pulling an all-nighter usually works now (let's just say past 45) as a good reset. Was a cakewalk in my 20's and 30's, could do it without a hiccup.

Now, by about 11:30am the second day I'm regretting doing it, and heading for bed by about 7pm (just after supper settles). If you slip an hour or two nap in you're fucked and back to square one. Just go out at 7pm, and wake up golden around 6am.

I am going to check out those other mentions though.

Maybe take it once a month. No side effects. I just pass the fuck out.

All it does for me is make me tired and want sleep, so I guess working as intended. I don’t regularly use it. Used to when I worked overnight shifts cause otherwise I can’t sleep during day.

Definitely not, at least not as a supplement. When one uses these chemicals the body realizes it doesn't need to make it so a dependence develops...
