They will be until they're not. I think it's going to be a huge paradigm shift once we have a proper working one.
 
It's not "all" hype, but they are a long way off from being useful--at least a decade maybe more. They need to increase their qubit count by about 10,000x
 
Quantum clocks will make GPS redundant, there being trialed now.
