I keep seeing fear mongering and crazy stories on here that just have not matched with my real world experiences. my dog and i have had numerous run ins with bullies and even when they get in a scuffle the pits havent latched on or even been overly aggressive. compared to other dogs we've run across they seem to relatively docile. The only crazy one was owned by a super sketchy gang banger type.

TLDR
pitbull violence is in large part ownership and possibly inbreeding resulting in mental disorders as is this case with many pure breeds

They are a great dog if you want to kill smaller dogs/babies.

Don't forget about day grandparents.

I own 2 pitbulls that will lick you into living death

99% of the people that bad mouth pitbulls are the ones who have never owned one and believe everything the media spews.

If you raise your kid the right way, more times than not he will turn out good.

Neglect them and never teach them right from wrong and then more times than not they will turn out bad.

Same goes for dogs of all breeds.

Dog behavior is more to do with training/raising than the breed itself. I think it just is a lot more noticeable with pitbulls because they are very strong and negative stereotypes so incidents get magnified.

My roommate, has the sweetest pit that he raised from a baby very strict, never seen him even growl at something. I've brushed his teeth and didn't mind putting my hand in his mouth. My mom has a terrible, spoiled little yapper dog that constantly nips and has bitten me and pretty much everyone else... but no one even cares because the little yapper couldn't even break the skin and if need be you could probably punt it about 50 yards. To me training is much more important than breed.

But people get concerned about the pitbull because that's the stereotype.

I think the problem is that if you raise a shitty chihuahua, the consequences aren't that severe for someone who crosses its path. It's like giving a slingshot to a felon or an assault rifle to a felon.

They're beautiful fun dogs but they are certainly dangerous and should never be fully trusted. Personally I would like to have one some day but I've got a couple acre's and no kids

The problem with pit bulls is the amount of damage they can do. Most breeds will nip and run. Terriers tend to stay in the aggressive mode longer, whether its a chihuahua or a pit bull. Almost every pit bull owner will tell you that their dog would never attack anyone, even the ones whose dogs killed someone.

Gerbils are overrated.

I've said this before on here, in my experience small dogs like chihuahuas are much more aggressive in general. I've been bitten by chihuahuas multiple times where blood was drawn but because they are so small and incapable of inflicting fatal attacks, people seem not to care.

The thing about pit bulls is when they do attack they are capable of killing both humans and other dogs, which I actually here of fairly often. I think there is a threat to the entire pit bull breed do to bad people selecting for dangerous traits.

Pit bulls can be great dogs and are actually very highly decorated military dogs. It's bad people that have caused bad evolution in the breed.

Combination of this, and lots of pitbulls being inbred to make them more aggressive for fighting. Reputable pits i find are normal dogs like a rotty, other ones are likely inbred somewhere within 2 generations and owned by tards. That said, the 5 pitbulls in my neighborhood are amazing dogs. It's the great dane of all dogs that is the psycho where i live. Or the possum in my backyard. He is a handful...

Yeah, I have nothing against pit bulls personally and I'm not passionately on either side of the debate. It just seems like an illogical choice for a pet when you do risk / reward.

All lines of dogs are inbred. Inbreeding and line breeding are very common in dogs and horses. When done right, it produces the finest specimens. The issue is that when negative traits arise, those dogs need to be culled.

I can pretty much guarantee most of you have never even seen an actual American Pit Bull Terrier. The vast, vast majority of "pit bulls" you see are actually American Bully's, which are fucking garbage ass dogs, or plain old mutts.

This is an American Pit Bull Terrier. He's one of the best to ever wear a collar.

This is an American Bully. I wouldn't waste a single cup of food on this piece of shit. One way to tell is the the color "blue", which looks gray, isn't an accepted color in American Pit Bull Terriers.

I have a pit mix and yeah they're overrated. Hes as dumb as any other dog.

Probably only the top %10 in aggression are actually abnormally dangerous but given their tool set an angry pitbull is the most dangerous common house pet you can own.

With everyone saying boo hoo my mom's tea chup whatever has nipped me; if there was a 50lb pitbull sized house cat they'd regularly kill their owners. It doesn't mean a thing.

Problem is if they snap they can do serious damage. I got rid of my pit after my cousin's killed her three Chihuahuas. The dogs had been living together fine for over a year then one day she came home and two Chihuahuas were dead and one had to be put down later

i have a 8 month old pit bull. Im pretty sure i would have to protect her if someone broke into my house. love her to death but a bird pooped on her head this moring and now not even the birds in the neighborhood are scared of her...
