It's not that hard to dig into this and find out. Society was generally more conservative in the 50s and 60s than it is today. This isn't at all controversial to say.
Because more children are had out of wedlock.....
Children born to a single parent home are more likely to settle in a lower socio-economic strata than those that have 2 parents in the home. So controlling for socio-economic conditions would be disingenuous.
Nothing about hook-up culture says you can't use birth control?
