It seems like to me whenever there's a close fight and controversial decision there will always be a contingent of fans who support the official decision and will provide valid reasons why (damage, octagon control, take downs, more efficient strikes etc) then in other fights when according to these very reasons the loser should won, then they will still support the establishment position on basis of other reasons. It's always a rationalization of why the judges awarded the decision the way they did.

So the question is in a close decision does the actual judges decision color how you perceive who won/lost the fight?

I always go by who I know who won the fights.

I still believe Jones beat Gus and Shogun beat Machita I

Casuals have to be told who won and take whatever the judges say

No, the actual judges scores hold no bearing on my opinion of a fight.

Well, every fight is different. So can't say why people contradict themseleves on here but probably just because every fight has so many different factors at play.

As for your question about the judges decision... it has no bearing on my decision. I have agreed and disagreed with the judges so it is not going to make me lean their way just because of their decision.

Lawler vs Condit was so damn close. Both fighters brought it that night. Both had their moments. There was a lot of arguing over who won that fight but two things we can all universally agree on was it was a really good fight and it was really close. So we shouldn't be surprised when other people saw it for the other side because it was so damn competitive.

They cant do shit, so yeah, Boxing has his history of huge robberies that never go unchanged.

Fanboyism colors the Shertards decision.

There are a handful of people who call bullshit even when they are biased (eg, Hendricks/Lawler 2 robbery) but those are few and far and between.

No, a judges decision does not affect my decision about a fight. Most of the time I agree with the judges but they get a shit ton of close fights wrong imo.

As far as being "conditioned"? I don't think people are conditioned by them at all. If a judge sees a reason why they think said fighter has won then it's understandable and perfectly reasonable that other people saw things the same way!

Fuck the judges. Khabib should NOT be undefeated right now.

No, which fighter I like or bet on colors who I think won or lost the fight.

No matter how bad the decision, there are a solid number of retards who will agree with each other it's common sense and correct

I disagree with you.
There were many fights where fans completely disagreed with the judges.

There are psychological studies that show that most people do conform their opinions to both majority opinions, and the opinions of experts (judges, an also, what Joe Rogan says influences fans a lot), so I think you can extrapolate that to MMA fans. Also, there is the "Just World Hypothesis" by MJ Lerner that applies here as well.

That said, 1,2,5 homie.

Those are just fans of a certain fighter.

But the same thing happens the other way around; people will also be against a decision when it involves a fighter they like or hate.

Without objectivity one tends to be irrational.

The only fighter that they've conditioned us to accept gift decisions in fights they clearly lost is Diego Sanchez. Only because it happens every time. Its basically a foregone conclusion he's going to get his ass beat and still win on the cards.

Since they determine if I win $ on a fight or not, yes I'm conditioned...opinions don't win bets.
