Are Dana and Vince friends ?

Why was Pride a bad deal exactly? Those video libraries were part of the basis for Fightpass.

Plus the UFC got the contracts for every Pride fighter they wanted other than Fedor.

This. Pride was a great deal for the UFC because it took out a competitor, and gained a bunch of lucrative fighter contracts.

It probably would have been a bad investment for anyone else, because they would have had to compete with the UFC.

Vince Macmahon was going to buy Pride but he is a savvy business man and knew it was a bad deal.

Counterpoint: Vince bought WCW and totally botched the invasion angle. Should have made money for years from it.

OTOH, he made a boatload of money from USA, Fox and the Saudis.

I recently saw Vince on a YouTube clip. I hadn’t seen WWE or Vince in years and man, the dude got old. I know he’s in his mid 70s now but still, kinda sad. I watched that dude for over a decade.

I’ve always wondered about the invasion angle. Do you think they should’ve kept WCW as is and you had occasional matches with WWE guys in WCW and vice versa?

Not sure if they should have kept WCW, but they definitely made a mistake making the WCW talent look weak and losing cleanly to WWE talent over and over.

I see, You know, one of my hopes was once the UFC bought Pride, they should've kept Pride alone. Keep the ring, keep it in Japan and every now and then, have UFC v Pride events. Sometimes have events in the ring or sometimes in the cage. I would've enjoyed that a lot more.

Exactly. Motherfuckers that don't register on vince's radar.

I think they respect each other but aren’t exactly BFF. I never heard Dana say a bad thing about Vince and he usually has trashed almost everybody at some point.

Vince is dumb and old fashioned and may want a part of the traditional MMA fanbase (counterculture male repubs).
Vince is dumb and backward... But he doesn't run the day to day workings of the business. Hhh? That motherfucker is a genius. With his leadership (and the team surrounding him, subordinates and superiors) he's been able to keep shit afloat. Wwe doesn't need ufc demographic. It has the toxic mma subculture types, people on the left, white, black, latin, etc. People from all walks of life like it. Obviously there are people who don't fuck with it (me), but fanbase wise, they're comfortable af.

Being very good at business doesn't make you a genius man.
No they don't need that fanbase but may want to chase it.

Vince is a notorious buffoon. If it wasn't for others he would have ran the business into the ground. He's no where they level he used to be. He's old fashioned and close minded l. If HHH and others weren't there to help he'd be fucked

Agreed. Still doesn't need Dana. You'll never see Vince shit on his own talent like Dana does with the "x doesn't want to fight" bullshit.

HHH understands the changing dynamic and if Vince was gone they company would be better off.

they wouldn't want to chase it. They are mainstream. That subculture brings nothing but ugly, negative edgy energy. It'll chase away all the other people. In the 90's, yes it would've worked, with the attitude era and all the disgusting shit that happened. Nowadays, if a ultra-right nationalist came out and said half the racist shit colby said, WWE would cut them (don't bother defending him, just in case you were thinking of doing it, that's a conversation, for another day). WWE is way too progressive (lol at that notion, but true), to stoop to pandering to "Anti-sjw" fans. It wouldn't work.

Is it progressive?
Has to be to SOME (symbolic of course) extent I guess to survive at that level but the shit I remember (2007ish) was super chauvinistic.
Shit changes I guess.
