Vince Macmahon was going to buy Pride but he is a savvy business man and knew it was a bad deal.

Dana does on to buy Pride and got a video library.

who is the better businessman ? Do they have heat because of that ?

This, Dana is like a Mini-Me

It's kind of amazing to me, of course not all MMA fans know about pro wrestling (I myself was only a fan when I was a child) but it is so apparent once you've seen it you can't unsee it.
Dana even tried the same exact "independent contractors" shit to fuck them over but isn't quite as good.

They may not be freinds but they are friendly. They have worked together.

FUN FACT: Did you know the UFC actually brought in the guys from the into their offices to to teach them how to promote fighters and build up events? Dana and company literally learned how to sell fights by copying Vince's strategies. Any similarities between the UFC and WWE exist on purpose.

why the fuck would vince need dana as his friend? Is a lion friends with a cheetah? Vince is Dana's superior. Dana ain't shit to him and has nothing to offer in the way of "friendship". Dana is an off-brand Dana White. He's inferior in every way. So no they're not friends. Dana more likely hangs with Dan Bilzerian, Chatri Sityodong etc, those types of cats. PS i don't like Vince either. But they are NOT friends. Don't even mention them in the same fucking sentence, ts.

Vince is dumb and old fashioned and may want a part of the traditional MMA fanbase (counterculture male repubs).

Vince is the definition of a proper businessman in the entertainment industry. Like pro wrestling or not Vince is the fuckin best at what he does. Any one who promotes sports/entertainment on TV should atleast consider checking out Vinces business model.

Dana has always wanted to be Vince, but he needed the help of the mafia and now the elite to get where he is.

Why was Pride a bad deal exactly? Those video libraries were part of the basis for Fightpass.

Plus the UFC got the contracts for every Pride fighter they wanted other than Fedor.

I mean. Vince is pretty easily the better businessman. You seen the WWE's profits these days? fuckin hell

Hopefully someone writes a detailed autobiography on Vince when he goes. Pretty complex guy. Total lunatic

They lucked out with COVID...

Prior to the virus they had been doing pretty poorly (even though the product was getting more watchable).

How did they luck out during Covid. Genuine question

The WWE was losing money with live shows. The money they were making was hardly covering the cost of the venues. If you watch the shows prior to COVID, the attendance was ass and entire sections of the arena were curtained off...

It’s not like they were going to die off or anything, but they weren’t making as much money as they are right now.

Once COVID happened, the WWE was able to use their own performance center for their shows, and not have to pay a venue fee. They may have lost some sales from live merchandise, but it wasn’t that big of a deal.

The WWE gets most of their money from their network deals, and they most recently signed a fat one with FOX. This is part of the reason why McMahon was adamant at having his wrestlers be considered “essential workers” because if they stopped doing live shows, he would have been in breach of contract. While other wrestling promotions started recording future episodes of their shows in advance, the WWE would still have live shows so they could satisfy their contract with Fox.
