Are Alaskan Malamutes bad asses?

I had one years ago. Very smart. He was also somewhat small and would overestimate himself against other dogs.

He liked sleeping in the cold and waking up with frost all over him.

He was different to other dogs and really seemed human like.

90% of the time he was good but he had some primeval streak in him, his eyes would change and he would get crazy aggressive. It was like he wasn't there and wouldn't acknowledge commands or even that he heard or understood you when he was in that state. There was a wolf streak there.

I think malamutes are on the list of top 5 or 10 breeds responsible for fatal attacks on humans. Many people own them without any real incidents...but there is a latent capability there.

How old did he get? Yeah mine has a primeval streak too but its hard to know if its the rottie in him (30%), because rotweillers can get super aggressive.

I think Rotties are way more dangerous. You can get a bad line from a malamute and be fine. A bad rottie line can just snap, in a pitbull like way.

It got hurt because it would try over and over again to step into the line of fire and then step out. It could not touch her.

I had my dog in a leash. She was still young. If this was 5+ year old and I didnt have her in my leash that pitbull would not be alive.

She was mad as hell, but her agression now is ten times worse and she moves in very fast. I would not be able to break it up.
 
Aren't you swedish or something? Why do you have pitbulls over there?
 
Had a Malamute when I was a kid. Big MFer, named Dozer. Good dog, but that thing would chase down deer and drag them home. No stopping him either.

My experience is that Husky and Malamutes are quite different mentally. Malamutes can quit half way through a competition because they dont feel like it anymore. They also fight among themselves or other dogs quite a lot.

Malamutes are slower but have superior endurance to Huskies (if you can believe that).

mals also have same sex dog aggression, wheras Huskies are basically Retrievers mentally with other dogs.
