No of course not. I'm not catholic but think just abstaining from everything isn't good for some. It's not an excuse. Baptist preachers can do the same. I'm not at all making excuses but think they should reverse that one. The catholic church cover ups are also contributing to that stuff. Those folks need to be identified and put under the prison. Ive got 3 boys of my own and won't let them go with any man on their own that's not family. Too many sad stories nowadays...

I think the issue is that the pool of candidates for being a priest is limited and would increase if they could marry. Now, you get a greater % who turn to priesthood to run away from their urges.

If they are supressing natural sexual urges why don't they just have regular affairs to fulfill the desires they're suppressing? Why would it cause they to turn gay and philic?

That combined with the odd power dynamics the religion provides (gross btw) provides a breeding ground for these types of behaviours imo. If it were Alter Girls, the story would be no different.
