THE WORLD WASNT READY BABY

fuuuuck that gundam game looks cool

And you didn't just play against the players in the arcade. You played against players across Japan because the cabinets were online too.

Loved arcades, went to as many as I could. My town had two arcades. Mr. Arcade located downtown, had a “older” teenage crowd with pool tables in the back. Another in a mall “Raiders of The Lost Arcade” a jungle themed arcade. MKII, MK3, Killer Instinct, Time Killers, Tekken 3, Crusin USA, Lucky and Wild, T2 stand up gun, NBA Jam, NHL Open Ice, They had 2 pinball machines rotating every month or so. Addams Family, Simpsons, Rocky and Bullwinkle, Twilight Zone.

Paramount Canada’s wonderland theme park (now Canada’s wonderland, paramount dropped out) had a massive arcade. Daytona USA multi link machines (10 or more) Virtua Fighter 2, Silent Scope, MVC2, Xmen vs Street, basically all capcom fighters, Simpson 4 player , Xmen 4 player.

Seemed like in the mid 90s every family restaurant/ bar had. High Speed or Eightball deluxe.

As for hotels as I kid I could not wait to scope out what arcade games they had. SFII and MK were always around and some how that 1942 airplane shooter always showed up. Usually every hotel game had smashed broken buttons or out of order sign. Ah the good ole days.

I miss that vibe. Like nothing was cooler than spotting a new game, and wishing you could take it home.
We have two bars in NYC that are called BARCADE that have like 20 or so old school machines. Thats something i never did back then was drink and play.
We have one here but they got some played out selections.

The Simpsons but no TMNT?
MK3 but no MK1 or MK2?
They have street fighter 2, but, fuck, im still tired of that shit.

Wish theyd rotate them

Goddamn, right. I remember when I had the rented out arcade for my 12 birthday, I played a whole lot of that pinball game and this:

If memory serves, I actually managed to beat this one, but only because it was free.
I loved the shit out of this.

2 cheap ass sections though where you have to defend the truck and the van. When you fail, you start over.

Ive beaten it but im pretty sure i needed a 2nd player. You gotta shotgun his ass to the back, then find and get the grenade launcher for 2 hits. But he moves quick.

Because of the MAME, i ended up not liking this anymore, along with simpsons, and xmen. Having infinite quarters really showed that there was no skill to build, just pay to play.

I miss the video game arcades good times.

There was not to far from I used to live sadly
it closed in the 2000s.

You have to make peace with that, with these games. The experience, graphics and sound are still very entertaining, but yes challenge wise, its pretty much pure relentlessness (quarters)

Im OK with it,cos thats how those games always were, but i still dig having the oppurtunity to play them at home
