i actually want paul to win this fight. it would be hilarious. i enjoy these gimmick e-celeb fights and paul winning would guarantee more of them. and paul is not a terrible boxer in his own right, at least by amateur standards.

but people are underestimating askren. he may not be a gifted boxer, but he is still a gifted athlete, and a disciplined worker. he is capable of becoming a much better boxer than his lowlights suggests. true he basically only used striking in mma to set up takedowns, but it would be a stretch to conclude that he is incapable of standing. i don’t expect ben to come out looking like lomachenko, but he will know a few combinations well enough to land them consistently, and paul will have to work.

This will make MMA look worse than when Timmeh got KTFO and Dana had to sacrifice Toney to Randy.

I have watched Askren only a few times but I wonder if he even knows how to box at all. He just seems to walk forward with his hands stretched out so he can try a takedown. I haven't seem him do any striking. The only chance may be to make the fight dirty and clinch all the time.
