There's not a single thread on the MMA board about the fight and the 2 threads on the boxing board are the only ones I've seen since it was announced.

Most of the MMA community thinks he'll lose.... so I'm not sure exactly how you think they'll get rustled. Either the expected outcome happens or he pulls off a win and surprises a lot of people.

actually, I’ve been merging all Ben Askren threads into the one initial thread, or deleting them.

I actively resist the urge to ban people every single day for making Jake Paul threads. It’s an internal struggle I wasn’t prepared for.

If there’s too many in here just dm me or tag and I’ll do some merging so it’s less obnoxious

Ok fair enough. I've heard though that MMA glove punches sting more, more likely to cut and harder to stop with smaller gloves to defend yourself. I'm sure given it's the only form of attack boxers punch more efficiently but i guess it's no joke to get punched by an MMA guy.

Definitely MMA gloves have way less padding and that's why you see the cuts so much more. Smaller MMA gloves leave you more open to attack than boxing gloves, no doubt. But I think MMA guys could learn a lot from boxers in terms of offense, defense, and cardio.

Pro MMA gloves are 4oz
Pro boxing are 8oz - 10oz depending on weight class.

Pro MMA gloves surprisingly offer more protection due to the amount of padding around the knuckle.
Pro boxing gloves majority of the time are made with horse hair and latex foam which can be manipulated so your knuckle is felt through the glove and the hair sits around your knucles....majority of the weight in boxing glove is in the wrist support and back of the hand take into account how dense the wrap is on a boxers hand....it fucking hurts haha

Boxing should have something similar to the UFC where you both fighters wear the same gloves from the same brand with the same materials.

Apart from my gloves post this fight is shocking Paul is shit....no better than an 7 fight amateur boxer, doesn't deserve the "Pro boxer" status. He has fought 2 white collar boxing matches yet gets a lot of smoke blown up his arse. Put him in a ring with a decent 7 fight amateur boxer he would get destroyed.

From what I seen from Askren his stand up is also no better than an amateur boxers but.....he has fight experience. He has taken a punch off guys who can punch, he has defended against guys who can punch, he's also gone though plenty of fight camps so he knows how to train, if he does a proper boxing only camp he can win comfortably.

People need to stop giving both Paul brothers so much credit, if your giving them this credit go to your local gym boxing gym and support the young 18 year old guys who'd beat both of them in a straight up boxing match.

Fair enough. Of course there are differences in how to defend yourself, you look at a great striker like Rob Whittaker in MMA, he holds his hands low. I thought it was to increase power but I think it's mainly so he can get underhooks to stop a takedown. it might mean it looks like he's not defending punches well enough but it's part of the overall defense strategy i guess.

Spot on with cardio, i think a lot of MMA guys don't run which I think is a mistake. (As an untrained slob on the couch ha ha)

I understood what he wrote. I just didn't think there were that many threads, regardless of where they started. In any event, whatever retarded mod is moving them should knock it off. Even though it's about a boxing match, anyone with half a brain cell should know that a thread talking about Ben Askren should remain in the MMA forum. They're discussing an MMA fighter and even though input is welcome from boxing fans, the threads should remain in the MMA section. Apparently this mod isn't smart enough to realize that though and thinks HURRR DURRR it's a boxing match, so I should move it to the boxing forum and piss everyone off.
