Opinion AOC = Trump of the Left.

So I have finally got around to read and watch a little bit about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. And my finding is she is essentially the Trump for Democrats. Here is why:

  • Like Trump, she is threatening the establishment of her party, but the voter base is enthusiastic. 74% of Democrats can imagine voting for her should she decide to run for President one day.
  • Like Trump, she is triggering the media of the opposite spectrum massively. Just like Trump manages to generate outrage via deliberate provocations, the right-wing media seems obsessed with her. Also people seem to defend AOC's statements by saying you don't need to take them literally - like Trump supporters do.
  • Both seem not to give fucks about the traditional political rulesets of their party regarding how to build a political career. And both don't care that their party establishment doesn't like them because they know the base does. Both also communicate with their base directly a lot.
  • Both seem to profit from the trend that competence, experience and knowledge seems to count for less and less. While she doesn't lie to the obsessive extent that Trump does, AOC also is hardly very reliant on facts (and her supporters don't seem to care).
  • Both Trump and AOC have shifted their party's political compass toward the extremes. Trump to the right, AOC to the left. The Republicans have become a nationalist, isolationist, xenophobic party under Trump. The Democrats are now actually discussing about 70 percent top income tax rate, abolishing ICE, and a radical green energy revolution (and tranny rights).
What say you, Sherdog?

I say <TrumpWrong1>

1. Polls mean nothing. Of all the people I know that still call themselves "liberal" not one of them thinks anything other than she is the PALIN of the left and is a cancer to the party.

2. Trump is triggering via trolling. AOC is doing it via idiocy.

3. Trump doesnt give a fuck because that is what the people that voted for him want. AOC doesnt give a fuck because she is ignorant as fuck and thinks she knows better and the difference in their base shows it. Trumps base is spread all over America, AOCs base is in a giant city out of touch with everyone outside it.

4. Trump only appears incompetent to TDS having mainstream media watchers...AOC likes to "play a game" when in a hearing when its her turn to ask people questions.

5. AOC hasnt shifted anyplace outside her own district. She is not her parties leader and she has a shit ton of resistance against her and your ideas about what the Republican party is under Trump shows a disconnect from reality.

Conclusion, you are more than likely an AOC supporter.

Can someone make a “daily AOC says something stupid on twitter thread” vol 2?

First one is locked. And this ignorant broad was full of stupidity today!

Says we can’t let our buddies borrow our gun. Does she even America?

This is nothing against AOC but did you know her starting pay is 175k a year? Maybe the first thing we can start with is not paying our politicians wages of that of a celebrity or high ranking executive. Politicians should be civil servants making the same wages as the average citizen they are serving. You combine with that with making lobbying illegal and then maybe you'll only get people that care running.

175K is not that much if you live in a major city and your job has ridiculous hours and travel demands.

175K is like senior manager or some regional suit, certainly not high ranking executive pay.

They're very different in enough ways that the comparison is very weak. AOC is not a billionaire fraud magnate who got a reality TV show and bullied her way into the top spot, or anything at all like that. She's a hardworking public servant who started at the bottom. Her gains from the "trend of experience counting for less" are a legislative seat representing people who are already aligned with her politically, rather than her celebrity being the initial focus and the rest thrown together ad hoc, as is the case with Trump, who even Republicans admit could have run as a Democrat (but the Democrats would have rejected him). I could go on but you get the point. You're pushing a "both sides" narrative without including any critical examination, and this is not a good effort.

What you get right is that populism is producing candidates for various things who are less experienced than usual. What's funny is that Trump is being compared to a freshman Congresswoman from a liberal district, as if her position and the presidency are somehow just arbitrarily the same thing with the same implications.
Are you serious?

She is exactly what Trump is, an actor delivering lines in front of a camera. The only difference is the scripts they’re working off.

Why are you going to someone's twitter page every day, if you don't like that person?

You must have a sad life.

hmm better save that thread, it was entertaining how much leftists were initially carrying the water for her and her quotes but they kept coming and coming. Now they're scraping the bottom of the barrel and resorting to playing the race card instead of defending her quotes lol.

She isn't the pathological liar and hypocrite Trump is, so there is that difference. But in some ways , they are similar, like pissing off the establishment in both parties .
