Media Anyone who hypes up the cringe trashtalk/money fights can't claim to be a real fan of mma.

Fuck that. Embrace it. Every card you have the main fight be legit and the co main be an "entertainment exhibition". Doesn't effect records, championships or anything, just there to make money.
Every card would get a boost from casuals, any fighter on ppv points would get a nice bonus and hardcore fans get to watch the legit fights knowing the sport is pulling in more money at the cost of watching one freakshow per card.

Personally I don’t care about the drama, I just want good fights.

Self marketing is a great skill for someone to advance their career though. I’m not gonna hate anyone for that.

oh ill complain about colby getting another shot for sure lol him getting a title shot for acting like an idiot is eventually going to lead to all fighters acting like that and us looking like fools for liking it.
People don't even like Colby. I think the main reason a Covington title rematch is being floated around is because he fought evenly with Usman for 4 rounds, while everyone else has gotten their asses kicked

There’s no doubt Chandler DID NOT deserve to fight for the title. That said, if the matchup is good then I’ve learned not to complain. Another example, Usman-Colby 2. No way Colby deserves it after only fighting once since Usman stopped him and beating a washed Woodley. But I won’t complain about that fight if it’s made, should be great. But there’s no doubt Leon and Wonderboy both deserve that fight over Colby.

wonderboy has been a 500 fighter in the last 5 years. Now I would like to see him fight usman.

Colby and usman had a great fight and that’s his only loss in many years.
Leon should fight again as he’s been so inactive and doesn’t have great wins on his resume.

I’m ok with any of those matchups though

Leon's been more active than Colby lately, and whatever inactivity he's had has been mostly due to bad luck, not lack of effort. Colby has literally been sitting out cherry picking opponents. The only rationale for giving Colby the next shot is that he gave Usman his toughest fight. Literally nothing else entitles him to a title shot. He hasn't beaten a single ranked opponent in their prime. All his best wins are against aging names in their mid to late 30s.

Talking trash is as old as competition itself. It's just a part of sports. You can live in denial of that and build up a lot of frustration because of it, or you can accept reality and be entertained by a sport meant to entertain you. You aren't changing anything and only impacting yourself negatively.
I'm not that old !

Embrace making better fighters wait for their title shot so someone less skilled can get one? Not a chance.

It really baffles my mind you are talking about how ability and merit are more important than hype and then have the gall to mention Michael Chandler... and then you even admit he is one of the best fighters like what are you even talking about?
You gotta earn it and we know the best fighters in are in the ufc. Chandler was 1-0 in the ufc when he got his title shot, that's not earning it. And yes I know he was Bellator champ that means nothing to me when the contenders he beat (to apparently earn a ufc title shot) weren't on the same level as the UFC fighters he would need to beat to get to the title like everyone else.

Tony put it best: Dana white privilege

Without competitive architecture, winning the people behind you can do huge things for your career relative to the work it takes (social media, giving a memorable interview etc). It does seem silly that fighters are reviled for talking shit if they lose, given how much they stand to gain by it, especially since it's mostly for the show.
My point is there shouldnt be anything to gain from it when it comes to climbing the ranks.

You sound unintelligent and entitled to something which you are not. A few hardcore, passionate, fair-minded fans refraining from "hyping CM Punk" is like pissing in the wind. It is not "our" sport. Feel free to start your own promotion and call it "your" sport. Or, train and compete in whatever competitions you desire. Watch whatever promotions you would like to. You are a fan of MMA and the UFC, for whatever reason(s). No more, no less.
I would say the fans are what powers the UFC, if we stop hyping up trash then we won't keep seeing trash like askren vs paul

That’s a total guess. I could do the same thing. In my opinion, we have been saved from watching some of the most boring fights of all time because they skipped over fighters that deserved it.

Who do you think deserved the title shot besides Chandler anyway?
Chandler vs Oliveira was the only one w/ reasonable contenders that hadn't lost to Khabib

I dont like when people go on talk shows and talk shit but when its face to face it makes fights better for me

like the Izzy vs Vettori trash talk was funny aa fuck

Well, to be fair, they're not mutually exclusive.

You can be a real fan of MMA and WWE, or wherever the UFC draws these fake rivalries from.

And yet, Mcg, chandler and CM punk got money.

what can we do TS?, Casuals are the money.

This feels the same as a WWE fan finding out it was fake all along and is having a tantrum since he can't accept it.

OP it's all going to be ok.

Beyond absurd to say his career in bellator means nothing when he beat some great fighters over there, thats the epitome of buying into hype over substance

Where do you get off being so pretensious if you dont follow any MMA outside of the UFC? To me you are the one thats not a real fan

Theres been way worse then Chandler that one was fine
