Media Anyone who hypes up the cringe trashtalk/money fights can't claim to be a real fan of mma.

You gotta earn it and we know the best fighters in are in the ufc. Chandler was 1-0 in the ufc when he got his title shot, that's not earning it. And yes I know he was Bellator champ that means nothing to me when the contenders he beat (to apparently earn a ufc title shot) weren't on the same level as the UFC fighters he would need to beat to get to the title like everyone else.

Tony put it best: Dana white privilege

So who was more deserving than Chandler??? You're going on about how he didn't deserve the shot but failed to mention who did more? Sometimes there is more to it than just a fighters record in regards to a title shot, the situation in the entire division and other contenders is also a factor.

All you are doing is feeding into whoever is the best shit talker or who has the most twitter followers getting the title shots instead of the actual best fighters...Michael Chandler should not have been anywhere near the title, yes he was good enough skill wise but giving guys like him a shot over the other guys who have killed themselves for the ufc and gone on long win streaks is killing our sport because now those guys on a streak need another fight and risk losing it and losing their title shot that they deserved more than the hype job. IMO if you hype that CM Punk kind of ufc money grab you are a cancer to our great sport and helping rob us of the best fights between prime fighters.
I’m also a fighter so I can supersede your bs opinion by actually being an Mma fighter try again

Steroids hurt Mma. Shut up and purchase a better opinion. Because I’m afraid of you big boy

Why do you discredit other fighters long resume and win streaks from other organizations? The UFC does not have all the best fighters no matter what the PR machine says. The amount of UFC fighters leaving the UFC and going to other organizations and get beat the fuck should tell you you need to respect fighters outside the UFC.

Chandler deserved a TS because he was a top 5 LW in the UFC who lost 47-48 to Porier in a back and forth banger and Chandler sparked him in under 90 seconds. Then he had a back and forth with the current champ (honestly I thought the ref was going to stop the fight in the first). Imo he's one win away from another week deserved TS.

This is a trash circus, bro, nothing more. Get on with the program.

"Our great sport"

<{clintugh}>

Talking trash is as old as competition itself. It's just a part of sports. You can live in denial of that and build up a lot of frustration because of it, or you can accept reality and be entertained by a sport meant to entertain you. You aren't changing anything and only impacting yourself negatively.

That post is very misleading. The trash talk to sell fights stuff has accelerated a lot in the last 10 years. It started with Shale and culminated with Conor. Now it's mainstream. There has been a progression.

In any event it certainly has ruined the meritocratic aspect of the UFC, which is now purely entertainment, heavily geared towards trashy content.

Tito was doing it before Chael and Ali was doing it before that in boxing. It was always there. MMA just got more exposure.

The point was also not about the development of it in relation to PPVs, the point is just that it's always part of sports, whether it helps the fighters to get PPV's or not. It's something that you can never get rid of.

Or we are just less up tight about this kinda shit

I like freak show fights and money fights, but ts has a point. For example people saying Leon doesn't deserve a title shot is ridiculous, but it's all because of this who has the most twitter followers mind set. If it goes too far it will impact the sport negatively.

I try not to get too morally invested in a sport which requires you to sit through people receiving brain damage one after the other, it is an inherent contradiction to what I rationalise in my day to day brain.... It's like trying to make peace in war, JUST fuckin Bleeed for me you hero's, I'm sorry I take pleasure in smesh.

Everything you are saying is correct in isolation, but you are omitting the trend. It was not mainstream 10-15 years ago. We were flabbergaster when GSP said to Matt Hugues "I am not impressed by your performance". We fell down our chair when Shale said " Anderson Silva you absolutely suck". But that was kindergarten compared with the shit we are seeing now and on which is normal in the UFC.

And while there is some trash talk / drama in boxing, weigh-in scuffles are not as widespread in boxing as in MMA. They are non-existent in Muay Thai. In One FC it rarely happens.

Please don't try to pretend like this shit did not explode in the UFC in the last 10 years.

enough casual go back to pretending you know the sport because you feel for the "deserving" fighters lol

Buddy, I didn't mention it because it's not really relevant to the point I was making. Howrever, I never once suggested that it didn't ramp up in recent times, so I don't really get why you're so bothered by me not mentioning it.

Ok fine. I am not bothered at all.

Have you seen people saying that Leon doesn't have a personality and try to hold that against him somehow? That's what I'm talking about. His personality should have nothing to do with if he gets a title shot.
