The True Story Behind the HBO Miniseries Gunpowder
-Catholic political establishment and with it King James I, a protestant who introduced strict laws that persecuted Catholics, including the banning of priests.

However —spoiler alert — the plot failed when a group of guards decided to check the cellars and found the conspirators hiding there, moments before they were to set the plan in motion.

The basic story of the failed Gunpowder Plot is a famous one. But although Brits celebrate Bonfire Night with fireworks every year on Nov. 5, the details of that fateful night remain sketchy to many.

Rememeber, remember, the 5th of november.

I've been enjoying this series. On part 2 of 3.

It's a brutal, compelling, historic, story. Well done.

I would recommend it.

If you watched it, what did you think?

I thought it was alright , perhaps it made the plotters seem less hapless than they probably were in reality .

Im protestant and I watched it with my Catholic girlfriend. Neither of us is religious but had some lols.

I really enjoyed it. Agree with the guy above, I think they were a lot more incompetent irl than portrayed. It was surprisingly violent too for the BBC, was pretty brutal.

Was pretty excited for it, but felt it was a bit of a letdown.

The true story, while fascinating, just didn't translate to an exciting movie. They tried to add a bit more action, almost all of it fiction, but it still fell a bit short.

Not a bad mini-series, just nothing special IMO.

My father in law, Pop Pop, does.
