Anyone quit Facebook and never looked back?

Never liked it.
Always hated the bland, ugly, and ultra-conformist generic layout.
Plus, it's missing a shitload of features Myspace, Aol, and yahoo once had.

I just deactivated my account. You bastards have been better for my mental well-being. I feel like I can ask questions and get meaningful comments. On Facebook, it's sort of like you have to either put on a front that you're happy all the time or risk being perceived poorly.

I work in the music industry, so social media is a critical tool

I want to but my family likes pics of my son and it's a way to communicate with them

Never started to begin with. I still don't understand the concept completely tbh. I stay in contact with people I know by actually talking to them.

Quit about a year ago. Easy peazy. No ragrets. I found it was making me a little too concerned about how I think im being perceived by other people. Even the good things like keeping up with old friends simply weren't contributing to my current attempt at moving forward in life. 10/10 would delete again

I'm tempted to delete it, I never post shit on there and it seems to be the same ten people in my list constantly flooding the page with stupid shit. I find my self more annoyed then anything after I check it out the odd time.

Facebook is full of pretension bullshit and stupid political drivel. I suppose Sherdog isn't much different, but at least you don't know who the shitheads on here are. I just keep it for know what's happened to people I used to know and because you practically aren't a person if you don't have a Facebook at my university.

You guys are talking about Facebook like it's a heroin habit.

No, I never quit it, but I never felt enslaved to it in the first place. It's just somewhere my friends infrequently post pictures of their families in between their frequent posting of stupid political memes and whatever they ate that day.

Never had an account (on my own free will). My lady friend actually made one up for me with one of my pic years ago and every once in awhile my friends would wonder why even have an account if I don't do shit with it. I tell them it wasn't even my page to begin with.

TIL the few dozen people who never used FB or had an account and deleted it all post on Sherdog.

I'm way too lazy to go to the elaborate pretense of having a life, so obviously, no dice.

I deactivated my original account after I got divorced and didn't create a new one until a year or so later, then I deactivated that after a breakup just to take some time to gather myself and limit the compulsion to check in on my ex. I think it's really useful to keep in touch with my friends and family who are spread out across the globe, to show them what I'm up to, see what they're up to, etc.

Of course you get to see many sides of humanity, or lack thereof on a social media platform like FB, but I'm not about broadcasting drama or playing keep up with the jones's...so it serves a useful purpose for me.

So many people in here too cool for Facebook, I actually don't believe a lot of you.

Say what you want to about Sherdog; it may have an abundance of trolls, pseudo-intellectuals, and wannabe philosophizers. But at least Sherdog's central theme is, the anonymous exchanging of ideas, opinions, info, etc. Contrast that to the central theme of FB, being that unabashed self-indulgence, and it's pretty clear, IMO, there are some significant differences. Both can be fun, and actually have a valuable function in society, but at least one attempts to keep the focal point on ideas, vs simply on people admiring themselves.

Agreed

I never had one either. MySpace back in the day when I was in college and had time to waste, but since then I've got ok much going on. If you get rid of it you'll be amazed how your real friends will just call/text you instead of sending you invites to stuff on Facebook. The more successful folks I know either never had it , or cancelled their acct.

I want to get rid of facebook but I use it to keep in contact with people that I don't have phone number too. I guess I could just ask them for there numbers but haven't got around to it yet.

I deleted mine about 2 years ago and don't miss it at all.
