My girlfriend of five years broke up with me the day before valentines day. I closed my Facebook the day after. Too many things on my account to remind me of her, plus not to mention that Facebook started a lot of dispute between us. She'd get all angry at me whenever she saw my friends getting engaged.

Besides that, I find that Facebook is just a platform for a lot of people to either show off or to show how stressed they are. The only meaningful thing that I really used Facebook for was to contact my friends. At least I am still able to access messenger despite closing my account.

Anyways, I have yet been enticed to return. There has been a bit of an online void since then that has mostly been filled with more time spent on Sherdog talking to you fine folks. So for you guys who have quit Facebook, how are you doing so far? Do you feel like you can appreciate things in the real world more?

Sherdog is my social media platform. FB is lame. Good for you- dont look back. The best years for you are still ahead of you.

I still have a FB account. Rarely post on it. Not even sure why I both to read stuff. Most people use it to show off (i.e. "highlight reel") and it's annoying.

I had a Facebook account for like three months in 2006, until I realized I don't give a shit about what people I (unfortunately) knew were doing, nor did I care to divulge my activities either, and "deactivated" my account.

I only have a Facebook account for one reason. It's the way that people invite people to things. Now that I'm a little older I don't see my friends as often so I don't want to miss it when people get together.

And speaking of Facebook it really annoys me how it keeps telling me that I have new messages and yet I rarely do. I don't know what these messages are supposed to be, but either I'm missing a bunch, or Facebook considers someone posting something random as a message. I don't get it.

Facebook has the best messenger. Has completely replaced text.

If you don't care about what other people are doing, don't sit there reading their shit.

I use Google Hangouts as much as possible instead of SMS.

I did about three years ago and don't miss it one bit. It seems kinda dumb looking back

Uhh, she actually got me an iPhone 6 for christmas… I refrained from making a thread on that on sherdog because I didn't want to believe.

Damn, the writing was on the wall, bro...

I tried it out and it was interesting getting in touch with people. The purpose for me was to see what one person was up to but not surprisngly she wasnt on it and nobody including her brother who I assume talks to their parents knew where she was. So ended my time there. Like a poster above said sherdoggy is enough social media for me and I appreciate how its primarily about discussion rather than self-aggrandizing narcissistic circle jerks. Sherdog has also become a primary place for me to learn about world events via the war room lol. Some peoples opinions are more interesting or entertaining than the subject theyre talking about.

I never had a Facebook account.

How else would I know when my friends and families birthdays are? I ain't rememberin that shit!

eh, never had one

Had the Myspace as a teen, stopped logging in and never went back to social media. Hate it, it's ridiculous how serious and worrisome people get about that shit.

My girl annoys the hell out of me everytime we go do something she wants to snapchat it. It's whatever though I don't trip about it.

Funny thing is that I still have the same email so I get mail about myspace every once in a while, surprised that's still around, I never hear shit about it anywhere on the web.

I deleted mine not too long ago. I just don't like it, and never really did. It doesn't fit my lifestyle and it's full of people who aren't really my friends. There is literally no point for me to use it.
