Luke Rinehart's gym the Clinch Academy in in my new area. I am not out to tget this guy by any means. I just want to know if this guy is legit or a scammer.

Guy Got his BB from Leo Dalla, and uses the term master.

His site is also very Lloyd Irvin like, http://www.clinchacademy.com/

Just wondering if anyone knows if this guy is a decent person who runs an honest gym?

Edit. Went to the gym today. Rolled and talked to Luke. The gym is pretty solid, well run, and many of the students are really solid. It's a good gym, and I think it offers a lot to most people. Luke is a cool guy, and runs his classes well. Fast paced without being like a wrestling practice. He is laid back and a really cool guy.

HI! I am Luke Rinehart AKA "The BJJ Ronin". I have been training in Martial
Arts for over 25 years and have earned Black Belts in Tang Soo Do, Self-Defense Tactics, CFK Kickboxing and am also one of the only people in the world to become a 2nd degree IBJJF Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt WITHOUT A BJJ INSTRUCTOR!

That's how I became the BJJ Ronin. A Ronin is a Samurai without a Master and
I have only recieved one Certified Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Belt which is my
2nd Degree Black Belt! Why? Because I never had a BJJ Master. I learned on my own! You can learn more about this by watching my story!

I'm sure he's GREAT.

this is getting fucking ridiculous. I understand the mods covering you up after you wished death upon DJ jackson, but calling out people like this is just too much now.

This is a legit question cholo. Please leave my thread

The guy has done comps and has done well in em. I think he's prolly skilled. Just wondering if he runs a decent school. As I just moved and am looking for a closer gym

How is this "legit" when you don't have one reason to call out the man. You're just calling him because he's associated with LI's coach, who also doesn't have shit to do with LI.

I'm calling him out because in am looking for a new gym and he is in my area troll. Also I didn't wish for DJ to die. So stop being a liar and a troll. Just stay with one theme please

Edit also learn to read. Your reading comprehension is awful

The...questionable content of the site warrants investigation imo.

yeah because the mods deleted your post and every other post quoting you. you're so fucking fake.

Well, to start, he created his own style called "Clinch Combat Jiu Jitsu" which is a fact that would keep me from training with the guy. Also, the Lloydway stuff is a bad sign...

Nope I said career ending injury. You are exaggerating or lying. Anyhow done with you for good

Because he's trying to make money? I don't understand how is it bad to make money out of something you have put so much effort of?

News flash: Karate Kid movie was fake. There is no Tai Chi and Martial Arts meditation bullshit in BJJ. If you take 10 years of your life and sacrifice your body to get a BB in BJJ, there is absolutely nothing wrong with trying to make money out of it. Or do you also think BJJ schools shouldn't charge shit and let everyone train free?

Didn't catch that he made his own style up. That doesn't look good

I've never seen pure martial arts. Ever BJJ class I ever took had wrestling and Judo mixed in it, if not Japanese JJ. All most all teachers teach according to their own understanding rather than adhering to a book they got from their own teacher. That's what makes combat sports better than traditional arts - the creative investment of the instructor.

Making money lets the instructor do it full time, making him better than he would be. Naming your style, your understanding and method of instruction, facilitates that.

Making your own style = branding = more money = a sacrament you should strive for.

I would tend to disagree esp with BJJ. As most of the time they're not adding anything nor making any improvements worth noting. This has been debates here to a great extent

Not my point. If he isn't calling it BJJ then he isn't teaching BJJ. He's teaching martial arts according to his understanding. Giving it a name and telling everyone that's what he did is more honest and upfront than what most people do.

Chulo, you insufferable twat, you have a real reading comprehension issue. When did I say that him making money is a problem? I said I think it's sketchy that he uses Lloydway marketing and gives out ranks in a made up martial art called Clinch Combat Jiu Jitsu. Where do you come up with this shit?

Also, he admits in his video that he didn't train BJJ, he trained in a plethora of other things (including an art his dad made up) and found Dala to help get him certified under the IBJJF after the fact. The explination for why Dala didn't give him his BB himself is sketchy as shit IMO. Why the IBJJF certified him as a 2nd degree black belt with no prior lineage is also SUPER sketchy IMO.

He does teach BJJ.

Anyhow made up BJJ styles usually aren't look upon well

Not sure where you are getting that he created his own styley clinch combat Jiu Jitsu.

His website just mentions his team name: Team Clinch Academy

It mentions BJJ as the classes

He is also mentionned that he is an officiall recognised second degree black belt.

Which leads me to think he is has the IBJJF certificate which means he can sign up your IBJJF BB certificate.
