Anyone here NOT watch MMA

I assume everyone was attracted to this site at least originally because of an interest in MMA. But I feel like I see a lot of regulars here but not always in the MMA forums.

It got me wondering, did any of you stop watching MMA over the years, but kept coming to Mayberry anyway?

I’ll admit, my watchin has maybe decreased. Probably the height for me was between 2000-2004. I ordered every Pride and Every UFC. I attended 2-3 events each year. And I caught highlights or full fights of smaller orgs on the internet.

Today, I order 1-2 UFCs a year and watch 1-2 at a friends. I always tape and watch prelims even if I don’t order the main card. I watch nearly every free event. I watch pretty much every Bellator. So I guess I watch just as much, but don’t see nearly the same quantity of main cards.

Theres not much I enjoy more than watching two unathletic white guys hugging up against a fence or laying on top of one another, rubbing pecs and dripping sweat on each others chest, face and neck for 15 minutes a clip.

I’ll say this, at 36, when I tell other people who are my age or older that I watch MMA (or UFC so they understand me) who aren’t already fans of the sport, the look they give me is like I might as well have told them I still play with action figures.

I imagine no “sport” has fans that are more apathetic or disparaging about their favorite sport than are MMA fans.

I don't watch it as much as I used to.

Part of that is the fact that I don't want to spend 65 bucks for a shitty card, I don't want to stream it, so I sometimes end up not watching it at all.

I enjoy the free cards, but there are too many cards in total. It's diluting the UFC product. I watch Bellator sometimes, One FC if I know it's on and I'm awake early enough to see it live. But I definitely watch less MMA now than I did 3 years ago.

Less Boxing and Kickboxing aswell. It's not that I don't get the same enjoyment out of it... it's the pay wall and the pressure that puts on whether the card delivers or not.

The minute you're paying anywhere from SIXTY-FIVE to SEVENTY dollars for one night for a potentially terrible night of fights... I'll pass.

The last UFC card I watched in full was UFC 194. Just over two years ago. Mostly see highlights scrolling through Reddit (KOs usually).

I have pretty much stopped watching. Too many divisions, too many fighters, wmma. My favourite fighters are mostly irrelevant or retired.

I did watch the GSP fight though.

I lost about a decade ago when I stopped seriously training.

But I never watched every card or anything like that; I just caught the best of what was available for free.
