I'm guessing you can't. I haven't been buying cards for at least two years now. I think a regular hobby box of Topps baseball is at least $80 now.

No De La Cruz autos. I sold off about 80 percent of my stuff a while ago. I might get back into cards eventually. I still have my Colts collection and saved some of my better vintage collection but that's it. It had just gotten so stupid during the pandemic because of the excess liquidity in the market. I got tired of paying overinflated prices for wax. It just wasn't worth the ROI unless you flipped unopened boxes or cases but that takes several years to increase in value. Even if I do get back into it, I'll probably still only buy singles.

I have been throwing around the idea of getting my vintage graded though. But even grading has gotten expensive.
I bought one '23 Topps Series 2 hobby box mostly to experience the one auto or relic per box. I got Cardinals catching prospect Ivan Herrera who seems like he can hit for avg in upper minors. It was $100 per box. I originally wanted a jumbo box, but too damn expensive. I don't plan to buy any hobby boxes going forward. Most hobby places won't sell by the pack. One store was asking $70 for one '23 Bowman hobby jumbo pack. I was shocked and left.

Good lord. That's what I'm talking about. $70 for a jumbo pack to probably pull a $10 auto.

I have a couple of signed Taylor Swift CDs. Mine didn't have the cat hair that she mentioned on Twitter...lol

Very nice collection.
You are a guest on Sherdog? How exactly does that work?
I know you can get signed photographs on eBay. I don't know if they are the real thing or not. I'm sure some are real. How can you tell an original from a fake?

If you're lucky. And it could very well be of a guy who washes out in 3 yrs.

I used to buy jumbo packs from hobby shop and got Bowman autos of Brad Cresse, Trevor Plouffe, Roosevelt Brown.

It's not just market driving box prices up. I'm sure it's Fanatics, new owner of Topps, where pre-order price is lower than release price. Odds of something good lowered while prices of boxes went up.

I've seen Nolan Ryan's auto and it's very neat and distinct. It's the messy autos that are harder to tell if legit.

On Apple News, I saw an article listing autograph fees for tons of players and actors appearing at a Fanatics show and the costs ranged from $80+ to $400+. I think Kevin Costner was $400+ and ordinary baseball players with just a few years of decent performance were like $100+. Seems crazy expensive.

Before my pops passed away, I bought him a baseball autographed by Bumgarner, a pitcher he really liked.

I think it was like $275. No accounting for taste I guess, lol. I always thought BUMgarner was a douche, "Don't look at me!"

I’ve only gotten one autograph in my life
It was from a rapper on one of his album covers
Then he was killed years later in a shooting in Oakland, so now its worth way more

I forget who it was, some big name music artist
They stopped in at a local record store
Before they left, they signed a bunch of albums and merch that the store had in stock
So if you went in to buy an album you could of randomly gotten an autographed copy for the same price
I thought that was pretty cool

I wouldn't say I actively collect autographs but I do have some from over the years that have some special meaning to me. Some gifts, some in person, some from comic cons.

Mark McGwire glossy framed autographed 8x10 got for a birthday gift when I was maybe 8-11 years old. He was my favorite player from the bash brother era Oakland A's

Rickey Henderson autographed baseball card when he was on the yanks. Traded for this from a friend , he got an upper deck Michael Jordan baseball rookie card. I had a bunch of the Michael Jordans I think I got the way better deal of this trade

Jose canseco autographed ball, friend got it from Jose at a little league event sn sent it to me. but potentially / probably was Ozzie who signed it.

Nick and Nate Diaz autographs, huge oversized magazine cover blow up. was a gift from the diaz brothers Stockton eye doctor who I used to be friends with. I was a huge Nick diaz fan this is a favorite of mine.

Scott Hatteburg, personally got this one at an Oakland A's before game signing. Had him sign the sports page newspaper picture of Hatteburg hitting the walk off homer for the A's 20th win in a row in the early 2000s. I was at game 20 and saved the paper and got it autographed a few years later. and have the ticket and box score, article and a picture of me and hatteburg plus autographed newspaper picture framed up.

Ruben Sierra Beckett glossy picture got it at an after game signing.

Tim Hudson autographed baseball, was a gift

The Governor from the walking dead on a 11x17 art print. I sell art at comic cons and this is in the portfolio I sell. Hand drawn Mount Rushmore but with walking dead villains, someone bought it and had him sign it and he wanted a copy so as a trade he did an autograph for me. Signed it saying, "thanks" and took some pictures w me and him and the signed print.

Al and not Pam Anderson tool time girl but the other brunette one, from home improvement tv show. Can't remember her name. Again from a con, they wanted some of my prints so as a trade they gave me glossys signed and pictures together. In exchange for the golden state warriors and Seattle Seahawks prints they wanted.

JohnJay and Rich radio show cast .used to listen to them at work and at home everyday for years. I won a call in contest 3 days in a row and won a CD, a DVD and 3rd day they said they can't give me another prize so I asked for a signed glossy and got one autographed by the whole show. Kyle , producer bill, Johnjay and Rich and someone else I can't remember who

Don Rosa, these are my absolute favorites in my collection. Rosa is the 2nd best uncle scrooge and Donald duck comics writer/artist from the 90s, 2nd only to the creator carl barks. Rosa is rare in comics in that he did the inks, color and wrote the stories for most of his run. i think. Def did the inks and writing. I personally think rosas stories are better than barks. I have 3 huge originals inked and colored by Rosa , done during cons. 1 8x10, 1 11x14 and 1 11x17. All drawn colored and signed by Rosa. Which is very rare as Rosa stopped taking paid commissions at cons long ago but did them for me as a favor after we became con friends. I paid him really well.

Dan Parent Archie comics artist. Again at a con got a 11x17 original of Archie, Veronica and Betty. Sharing a soda. Signed inked and colored by Parent.

Raylene late 90s porn girl. Met her at a strip club she was touring at. My fav from back then. have a polaroid of me and her naked in my lap and she autographed it " thanks for cumming, xxx Raylene. Yes it's as awesome as it sounds.

No but I buy sports cards boxes and sell the cards on Ebay. I sold an autograph card for $600 a couple months ago.

I won a bulls jersey at the United Center 27 years ago with all signatures of the 98 team on it. They said it was real but I never got a certified card for it so I likely couldn't sell it it might not even be real sigs. But I think it is damn it.

I think the only autographs that counts are Elvis and Beatles autographs.

Salt Lake's Comic-Con just went down this past weekend and it was a pretty interesting experience. It's the first comic-con of any kind I had been too and it was cool to see a lot of celebrities that I had only seen on TV/in movies.

I got to meet and get an autograph with Jason David Frank (former Green Ranger on the Power Rangers when I was a kid, the best ranger there ever was; also an MMA fighter for anyone who doesn't know him) and Patrick Stewart who, beyond his roles in Star Trek and X-Men, played Scrooge in the '99 version of A Christmas Carol, which I watch every year. (I have always loved Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" and its many adaptations--both screen and stage--since I was a kid.)

While I had to pay a pretty penny for them, it got me to thinking that it might be cool to start an autograph collection. I already had a few before this weekend--Dave Mustaine (and a few other members) from Megadeth, several members of Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Jens Pulver, several of the cast members from the so-bad-it's-good cult hit Miami Connection--and now I'm thinking about making a legit run at trying to put a good collection together. The thing is, I mostly only trust autographs that I get in person to be legit, so in order to do it I would need to make a commitment to attending autograph signings wherever I can find them.

I once got Mookie Blaylock's autograph. With that legendary signature, figured I'd go out on top, and stopped collecting them.

Larry Bird on a Celtics "Sweet Sixteen" ballcap, and Willie Mays Giants photo.

On a Fanatics Lids store website, they had a Derek Jeter signed jersey for $1.3k? Could someone's kid or grandkid be able to sell it to someone else for $1.3k? I don't think it's some special historic jersey, but some fresh off the production line jersey.
