Anyone feel like Strickland can get this done?

Mir vs Big Nog, Bisping vs Rockhold and Serra vs GSP says he has a chance.

How ever no this is probably more GSP vs Fitch a one way ass kicking.
 
Can't really see Strickland winning this fight.... BUT....end of the day it's a fight and anything can happen.
Strickland really should work on some unusual takedowns and surprise Adesanya by taking it to the ground and trying to sub him.

On the feet.....Adesanya really is a master, It's difficult to envisage Strickland winning on the feet.

Strickland has to have something outstanding about him to beat Izzy.

Size / speed / power / grappling ...

Izzy has outstanding length / speed / striking ... while, IMO, Strickland has nothing outstanding about him ... so he thus has no way to beat Izzy.

Consider why Pereira has beaten Izzy. He was even bigger for the weight than Izzy, even better technical striking ... and (while Izzy had better speed) Pereira had more power.

That is the only way to beat a guy like Izzy — you have to be even better in at least a few key categories.

Strickland is better than Izzy @ absolutely nothing.

He has a chance, but he needs to fight differently than he's ever fight before

he needs to blitz. He needs to try to go for the ko in the first couple rounds.
 
Gotten better since the Alex fight? He's literally the same plodding jabber with no power and no real game plan other than going in and sparring. Unless he goes in there and takes Izzy down and jiu jitsus the shit out of him what do you think he's going to do? Walk down Izzy and jab him for 5 rounds somehow?

That said, if it goes to decision, no matter how lopsided in Izzy's favor the fight is, wouldn't be surprised to see a split dec win for Strickland since dana has such a hard on for putting a belt on a white american maga/shithole state type.
 
He has great cardio has pretty good ands and throws in volume
He’s always moving forward with pressure-which could be a problem with Izzy’s counters- it cost him against Alex
I think he has a shot if he bullies him

I don't see it happening. Strickland's biggest strength is his volume striking paired with solid cardio. Against a ridiculously good striker with an extensive kickboxing pedigree, it does not bode well on paper.

Because Dana is desperate to have a white American champion for marketing purposes. Pretty simple.
 
A good jab offsets izzys offensive rhythm mixing in takedowns could make it interesting. Much easier said than done.
 
I do not.

But the last 2 fights where I thought a fighter had no viable path to victory, they won.

Sean vs Aljo
DDP vs Whittaker
 
Strickland has shit head movement and is tailor made for someone like Adesanya to snipe. Izzy will fight off his back foot as Strickland plods forward, landing a lot of jabs until eventually he explodes and puts him away in the 3rd.
