Anyone ever bought Bitcoin?

I bought 100 bitcoins around a year ago for $4 each, their price now is something like $35 each :D. Ive never had to give out my bank details or anything though.. i bought them via paypal and then got the coins sent to my bitcoin wallet by giving the site i bought them off my wallet address..

Also, if you're interested in mining bitcoins, id suggest investing in one of these:-

Damn. If ye still have them, those be good as gold, buddy

Bitcoins are like 270$ at mtgox and 630$ at coinbase. Can you buy at mtgox and sell at coinbase? It would be ridiculous if you can.

I've made a lot of money off of Bitcoin since starting this thread. Who would've thought it'd become what it is today and what it could become in the future.

I don't really understand bitcoin, but I would have thought going "mainstream" would kill the potential of bitcoin as an investment.

At one point in time I had several thousand bitcoin, granted that was when they were worth a couple cents. The hard drive that had that bitcoin wallet failed and is now a paperweight. A paperweight with millions of dollars worth of bitcoin encoded on an unreadable sector. Fuck.

Lol what? How are bitcoins contained in a single hard drive? That seems stupid

Always back up your bitcoin wallet, and never forget the password for the wallet. If you lose your password, you lose those bitcoins. There are hundreds of millions of dollars, if not billions of dollars, in wallets with lost passwords.

At that time they were a novelty, and only really used to buy drugs on the internet, so I didn't really see any point in backing up the wallet.

Uhh you know that you can extract data from defunct drives, right? All you need is to grab the wallet.dat file and know the password(if you had one).
