Anyone else not surprised Werdum for KTFO?

40 year old who had 4 fights in the span of 8 months.

Thats more fights than Cain has had in the last 4 years.

Oh I'm sorry didn't know Big Ticket and Tybura were that challenging... and he gets 400k a pop for those type of fights.

I don't think he was over looking tall Russian dude at all. He stated numerous times that he knew he was really dangerous, thus his grappling heavy game plan...which, in general was going well, until he decided to brawl. He paid the price. Another thing, these are HW's, you take enough shots, ones going to get you...it happens to ALL of them.
exactly. absolutely no reason for Werdum to brawl. instant karma...

I’m surprised Wersum got KOd. He’s had a legendary chin over the years. That said time has caught up with him, it was only a matter of time
yeah but when you have a legendary chin that means your taking shots on it or no one would know it was legendary lol so by virtue of being iron chinned it almost always means time will erode it away due to your propensity for taking shots.

i felt like he was winning, but after Volkov got up from the first takedown in rd 1, Werdum looked super gassed. i thought Volkov might finish him right then and there.

i give it to Fabricio though, he gutted it out until he decided to make a stand. a lot of HWs would've folded after looking as gassed as he did in rd 1, but he kept on trying to win and kept pushing the action. had he been able to hold on for 1 more rd i think he could've won a decision.

Bro why does Cain NEVER fight? People always say injuries.. but no injuries last this long surely? Can't he just admit that maybe he trains wrong and mix it up? Its so lame to see a good fighter not fight.. all i remember is they said he trained harder than anyone.. very clearly remember that, so maybe he just always fucks himself before he even gets to fight?

Cain isn't like normal people. Normal people are normally healthy and gets injured once every couple of years. Cain is normally injured and gets healthy once every couple of years to fight

I was surprised they made it to the 4th round after how exhausted they were after the first round.

Congrats to Volkov though. Hopefully Werdum hangs em up. He looked 40 tonight and got put out cold.

If Overeem loses, we might get Werdum Overeem 4.

Why would you want Werdum to hang em up?? Plenty of fighters have been in far worse position career-wise than Werdum right now.

And in relation to your final point I can't tell if you're being ironic/sarcastic or not... if Overeem loses again surely the argument for HIM to retire would be greater than that of Werdum. Furthermore, why on earth would anyone want another Overeem/Werdum fight??

I'm not surprised, Werdum looked to be in terrible shape not to mention being 40 years old.

Volkov has legit striking and with heavyweights, it only takes 1 shot - after Werdum gassed and the takedowns failed, it was inevitable.

That Werdum Overeem part was definitely a joke. Even you knew that. Lol

And did you see Werdum tonight? He looked pretty out of shape, he’s been fighting for 16 years, was knocked out cold tonight, he’ll be 41 this summer, was gassed by the end of the first. This is heavyweight. You stay too long in bigger weight classes and your brain will start to become scrambled sooner rather than later.

Werdum is one of the heavyweights who has taken less damage of the old vets in UFC, no reason to retire. He should take some time off though, he's been active as fuck and i felt like some overtraining was a factor in that fight.

Haha good! It's hard to tell if ppl are joking sometimes on here. But it's re-assuring that you were.

Yeah I get your point re Werdum. I guess it's just that it happens a lot where a well-regarded fighter loses dramatically and fans start to call for that fighter to retire. A lot of the time it's just the fans being overdramatic, and that's what I assumed in this case... however, in hindsight after the dust has settled, I understand your point with specific relation to Werdum.

He's old but I think you people are writing him off way too soon. He was very out of shape was a large part of the issue. I have seen older fighters than him not gas as quick. Whether he is there for the check, got sick, hurt, lazy, I don't know but he can do better.

werdum has better cardio then stipe, they said

I am not surprised. Werdum looked like shit in his last fight. At least in this fight he had a good game plan and implemented it well, he just gassed in the 4th round and had one eye shut. If it was a three round fight he would have won.

Not impressed with Volk. His takedown defense is awful. A good wrestler with cardio like Cain would merciless beat him on the ground.

Can't say I'm too surprised, his chin has always been hanging out there to be hit and sooner or later someone was gonna tag it.

if fighting often was that easy Cain would do it and gladly take those checks

3 round fights don’t define champions.

werdum was definitely hurt when he got dropped, but i think he dropped easier as he usually does to try and get a break/recover/play possum etc like he did with fedor and hunt, i don't think he expected such an accurate follow up punch though, it was great work from volkov.
