Anyone done a major home remodel? Like "pop-the-top" style?

I'm talking about significantly expanding size, adding another floor, etc.

Wondering how your experience was. Did you stay in the house during the process? Was your contractor decent? Most significantly, what were the costs like?

There are some good contractors out there, just be prepared to pay for us. People usually get what they pay for. As far as staying in the house it really depends on the scope of the work and the mindset of you and your family. More details will allow me to be more specific. Your first step is to find an Architect, no one can begin to give you real budgets without plans.
