Social Anyone Collect Sports Cards

I didnt even know they did UFC cards

I actually was standing in line at Walmart a few years ago and saw some UFC cards for sale. I grabbed a pack just for the hell of it.

First time I had bought any kind of collectible cards in probably 25 years.

In Europe we'd collect dem Panini stickers

I don't, but I have a ton of hockey cards from the 80s-90s from my grandfather who did saved under the stairs. Complete sets and stuff.

I have quite a few rookie cards, complete sets and unopened wax packs/boxes from the mid to late 80's. I haven't seen them in years, but I know they're still in my house somewhere.

Yeah, probably getting out of it soon as Panini is flooding the market with too many releases as well as abyssmal QC. Panini has the license to damn near all the major sports leagues.

Topps has just begun doing the same thing with the Star Wars franchise, and has already watered down the niche market on UFC's shit. I actually have signed gloves from 2013 Knockout.

Leaf releases pop culture products that can be a lot of fun. Huge ass boxes and some randomly have WWF signed titles and shit in them.

Upper Deck has some pretty cool Marvel products.

I made a hell of a lot of money selling Magic the Gathering cards.

And the mistake I made was selling early, 160 of the cards I sold I sold at fifteen bucks a piece, those are worth 120-200 each now.

I ruined thousands of dollars worth in my bicycle spokes. There really wasn't any value to them in the 50s.

I been looking at the Pini Prizim basketball cards. I likes the way they look. Might grab a box soon for fun. I would a Lebron Auto card.

I have quite the collection from collecting when I was a kid. A few thousand baseball and maybe 500 football cards. I've even got a couple Hank Aarons and like a 100 cards from the 1950s.

They are all absolutely worthless unless they are graded. And getting them graded is expensive and a real pain in the ass.

Those expensive cards that you see on Ebay... they are reposted hundreds of times by the same seller since rarely anyone would consider buying them other than hardcore collectors.

Did you buy alot back in the day or something?
Not necessarily. It's just that the money spent chasing whatever upcoming super prospect's rookie card in packs could have gotten a much better return on investment with more liquidity.

The 90s killed the market for most sports cards but seem like the market is coming back with High end autograph cards and shit. I say that cause I been seeing alot of people opening card packs looking for Autographs like Dak and others. I just seen something called a Tops Dynasty that is a 1 card pack that has a uppergraph of some superstar but the box is 400-500$ unopened.

Look at Dak rookie carsa on the ebay.

and that is just one kind of his rookie. There is another one that is going for 1k already.

So is there anyone collecting right now. I would love to some recommend basketball cards that might have some Autos
I collect/invest.

I buy and sell on eBay as a side business.

Looking for Basketball? I'd buy Jabari Parker autos at current prices. Wiggins has become a decent buy since his prices have dropped over the past two years.

For football Dak and Zeke are very high because of the team they play for combined with their success. Great market for Cowboys stuff. I'm trying to dump a couple game used patch cards of Dak's right now.

Prizm is the new Topps Chrome really. Now that Panini has the exclusive licensing to football and basketball, prizm drives the market for that kind of stuff, especially with all of the various refractors and parallels.

is it still possible to buy a pack of cards and potentially have a gem?

They stopped that a while ago, but Topps did do that back in like 2006-07 with one product they made. They at least were smart enough to put the gum in a plastic wrapper that time instead of just throwing it directly on top of the card at the end of the pack.

I've bought few boxes of the Topps UFC stuff here and there.. pulled an Anderson auto out of one and sold it for $50 later.

I have a lot of the first few editions of the UFC cards. Best one is probably a 2009 GSP/Alves + fight mat UFC 100 card that was selling on Ebay for like 250 bucks last time I checked.

My dad has a lot of old Topps basketball cards from the 60s and 70s, some of the Wilt and Lew Alcindor cards are worth a decent amount but basketball cards aren't that big of a market from what i've seen on Ebay and stuff.

Dude, my friend made a fucking fortune on 2009 Bowman Chrome Mike Trout autos... like $20k in profit killing. I sold mine way too fucking early.. I thought I was doing well when I was selling stuff for twice what I paid for it after his second call up.

I was paying $50 for base chrome autos that routinely sell for $1,000 now.

Sometimes I want to jump off a bridge when I see listing like this end

I own all the above .... that's about $1,000 in Luck cards right there.

Also, I probably a good idea to consider grading cards too.... the value of a card that comes back 9.5 or 10 from Beckett Grading Services is much more than the card if it's raw.

i have a shitload of cards from the 80s and early 90s in footlockers. fav cards are the 20+ 86 topps jerry rice rookie cards. i also have a couple framed, oversized rookie cards for grant hill and jason kidd. they randomly came in boxes that year.
