Thinking of going to Austin this year. Anyone have any advice on buying tickets, things to do....etc?

Went to Indianapolis in 2004 and 2006. Luckily we missed out on tickets in 2005 when they had 6 cars run the race with the tire issue. Still have permanent hearing damage bc I took my hearing protection off briefly. Loud as hell.

Been three times, go once for the sack of it and experience with your own eyes the speed/sound they produce. Other than that its meh, unless you have a corporate box to chill in.

They're way quieter now which sadly takes away some of the experience.

Yeah it's unfortunate. I see they are running turbo 6's now. Still producing big power but the music is gone.

Sound was probably the biggest thing for me. Also no grid girls because of what ever feminist reason they came up with.

Been to NASCAR, Indy Car, and Top Fuel drag racing but sadly never F1

Circuit of the Americas is awesome. I went to the inaugural years back.

Its hot as fuck out there sometimes, so be prepped for the heat, wear comfortable shoes cause there is a lot of walking.

Try and buy a seat on one of the turns. Its a great time there.

Time trials for some reason was more entertaining to me.

Also, the engines sounded more high pitched than I thought they would

Like really loud motorcycles without the bass. And we were pretty close, sitting wherever we want, mostly at a hill slope.

I have been to the long beach grand prix those are indy cars.

Agree, been to two myself. They changed engines in 2014, the old naturally-aspirated V8 produced an immensely loud roar. They new ones are unfortunately considerably less loud and memorable

I watched an interview with a bunch of the drivers and they asked what they want to change about the sport and they all responded "V8s" in unison haha. I wonder how they feel about the mandatory halos this year

I wish they would bring back the old engines for a while, then I would go for the first time.

They also only get three engines this season and they reduced the amount of oil they are allowed to burn by quite a bit. I get that they are pushing for better engineering but c'mon it's a spectator sport. Let them bang bro
