Social Anybody else hates winter?

At my age yeah it's fucking bullshit, have to go outside and walk the dog (the ex wife's dog!) every day and it's literally painful, face burning, fingers burning, just standing there getting blasted by icy wind while the little bastard licks vomit off the sidewalk. It gets dark about 4pm! What the fuck? I just got dressed and it's time to get ready for bed! And what a pain in the arse with all the clothes, layers and layers, have to buy like 5x the clothes just so I don't die of exposure... but step into a store or onto a metro train and you'll be sweating like a pig cos it's a furnace, and your skin dries out so if you don't lather yourself in moisturiser you'll end up with cracked lips and feel like a baked potato. I know why old people move to warm climates, I am already there in my mind, body hopefully not far behind.

Nope, just you.

Personally, I love freezing my ass off just doing routine shit. Love driving in this shit, and having my heart jump into my throat at a minor fishtail. Love having to clear my driveway off. Love the potential danger of slipping on ice and breaking my tailbone, walking up to the mailbox. Love catching a cold. Oh' it's Christmas? Love climbing a ladder in the cold to hang some lights that will amplify my electricity bill, so I don't look like a grinch. Love the potential lawsuits of some courier slipping on my property and breaking their arm, because I didn't put enough salt down.

Fucking LOVE it!!!

we've had a couple weeks of steady snowfall and -35 temps. i love seeing everything covered in such a thick blanket of snow. though i'm sick of freezing my ass off, not being able to walk anywheres, and i'd like a little more daylight pls x

Winter's great. Summer's great. I don't really mind the cold, unless it's extremely windy. It also kind of sucks when it's over 100F in the Summer and you have to take a shower every time you come inside.

Every situation has its pros and cons. Embrace it. You're never going to make the universe work according to your desires.

I can't stand them in 4 season areas.

I feel so much better in tropical weather. My herniated disc pain completely goes away whenever I'm in Mexico or SE Asia for vacation.

I hate it. Hate having to start my car up in the morning and drive-thru potential ice and snow. People don't know how to drive here. You can't count on my city to clear roads or even put salt down

Yeah, unless you're in Norway, Finland, or Sweden your winters are probably pretty mild compared to upper Midwest. Maybe eastern Russia could be like that.

I lived in Alberta for a long time so I got used to terrible winters with tons of snow. Now I've moved away and live in a place with way better weather, where it never snows, and I kind of miss it. I miss the atmosphere of long snowy nights and throwing my car around on icy roads. Don't miss having to clear my driveways though

I don't hate winter in the suburbs or somewhere far from the city. Winter in the mountains is nice and beautiful for example. But I live in a big city and winter, early spring and late fall are my least favorite seasons- it is cold, dark and dirty and you still need to travel at least to the suburbs for fun winter activities.

I hate British winter.

About ten degrees Celsius, grey and rainy.

Depressing.

I'm also working earlies over Christmas and the GF is working lates.

Saddest Poster 2026 here I come.

:(

Came into say the same. I love minus degrees, crisp dry air, bit of sunshine, some snow etc. But we don't get that in the UK we just get months of seemingly non-stop grey heavy drizzle or worse, and fairly mild temperatures at the same time. Hate it.

Yeah, snow might be a pain in the arse but at least it looks good. It's...kind of romantic...something to get excited about...

Nothing about the UK Christmas period feels like Christmas to me. It just feels like bollocks. Not feeling it at all this year.
