I alluded to this in another thread when I was applying for the Police and Fire Department but I was wondering if anybody else just doesn't care for their current occupation.

I'm a "web designer" at my current job and I just find it incredibly unfulfilling. I figure since im relatively young (24) and I barely have things to hold me down, I guess a career change would be suited for me. Is anybody else in the same position?

BTW, I realized that some people dont even have jobs and I should feel fortunate that I do. (I DO) But does that mean I cant think that I can be in a better place now?

My previous job almost had me in tears on a daily basis. I lasted two months.

Things are a lot better at my current job though, and hopefully they'll be even better at my next job.

I vote for the career change. Best of luck!

Wow, almost in tears? What the heck did you do in your last job?

Hate my job washing dishes. But at the same time I still really like it.

Depends which job we're talking about. I have one full and two part times. All 3 are okay, but I would prefer to have one full make as much as the 3, and only 1 of the 3 has that potential.

I had a job that I dreaded going to every day. Everything else in my life suffered because of it. Word of advice, start putting out resumes. I'm in the same profession, but a change of scenery made all of the difference.

call center, bitches be bitches, broads be broads. its a simple job which involes talking shite to people. its fun.

Yes, even though I have a good job that i've been at for fourteen years, I'm considering law enforcement. I work for intel in the factory. Despite the good pay and benefits, its highly unfulfilling and mundane. Also feeling undervalued and unappreciated sucks too.

I was treated like shit, and noone cared. I'm not going into details because I'm done with that part of my life.

But yeah, a small change can make a HUGE difference.

I have the same crisis about twice a year. I have a good job that pays very well, lots of time off, lots of OT if i want it and i'm still constantly looking elsewhere!!

GTFO of that place asap. How far have you gotten with the police and FD?

For the Police Department im going through my second phase on Monday and I will be stopping by the recruitment office of the fire department after im done. The problem with the fire department is that I have to wait until Feb-March to take a Civil Service Exam and to even get the ball rolling towards me being a trainee. I want the Fire Fighting job more now than the Police but whatever. My boss is starting to suspect something is going on. I dont care. Just have to hold up the charade for another month or 2.

I sometimes wonder if paleolithic humans also found thier "job" of hunting daily as unfufilling as your modern office worker. I think not, but Ive also never lived as a hunter/gatherer, maybe its incredibly mundane after a few weeks like most modern jobs.

They didnt also have to worry about bills and laons to pay off. They werent in monogamy relationships either. They weren't as spoiled as we are when it comes to computers and entertainment wise. They had a very basic life.

love my job but some people can be annoying as hell. some people ought to learn how to keep their personal shit outside the office

Best of luck! I would go with FD as well. I came very close to being a cop about four years ago and am glad i didn't.

And truthfully what can your boss really do as long as you're showing up and doing your work? He can be botthurt all he wants when you leave, but do what's best for you.
