Food & Drink Any Tea Drinkers Here?

I cold brew green tea. I take 4 tea bags and put them in a liter pitcher of water and let them sit in the fridge for 24 hours. Put some ice in my big ass stainless steel mug and pour the entire liter of green tea in there and sip on green tea throughout the day. It's delicious and refreshing.

These are my go-to teas, I get them all at Target.

I wonder how they get those fruit infused teas and if it's possible to make it yourself at home. I guess just add in some dried fruit in?

Stuff like earl grey and english breakfast. Maybe it's my ignorance too, are you supposed to drink the with milk and sugar? If only use hot water.
I think so. I first time i had english breakfast I just had it straight and I didn't like it. I later realized Brits put a bunch of sugar and milk, which is why it tastes good lol.
They do the same in Thailand with their black tea, the only difference is that they always seem to drink it cold. I had one with coconut milk and it was fantastic.

Just says things like "natural peach flavor" on the box, whatever that means.

Now I'm interested in trying some fresh fruit in the pitcher while I cold brew for 24 hours. Maybe throw some cut up strawberries and plain green tea in the water, let it sit for 24 hours and see what happens.

Milk and honey is delicious in tea. I prefer honey to sugar by a lot

What kind of cup or mug do you drink tea in? A while back I looked for glass mug, but saw a bunch of Amazon reviews saying the glass cracked from heat. I googled a best glass mug list and one that looked interesting was maybe Libbey where the mug model name implied durability. I tried to look at product details and a bunch of the glasses said not safe for microwave. Do they expect people not to use microwave to make the hot water for the tea?

Years ago I think Walmart sold individual Anchor Hocking or Libbey glasses, but couldn't find any.

I have a lockheed martin mug made of glass that looks like this minus the picture of the F-35. It's very thick so I don't worry that it'll crack.

Libbey Robusta is the glass mug I was thinking of from best of list and it looks like that F-35 glass and review said microwave safe, but maybe Amazon product listing said not safe for microwave. The name implies durability. Wouldn't mind having a F-22 glass, but saw a bunch of articles saying the decorative novelty glasses from fast food use lead paint and some were recalled.

Ended up buying a Anchor Hocking 2 cup measuring glass that's safe for microwave or oven. The handle only attaches at the top, so a bit worried if it cracks, it'll be there. Had a Ito En Costco tea bag and the instructions say to later dump the tea bag contents into the tea and drink it. Googled to see if that's really what you're supposed to do and if safe and seems like the leaves are edible and have vitamins, but a bit rough swallowing it. Not sure I'm gonna do that again. Teeth felt slick afterwards almost like after eating apple.

How many cups of tea can you realistically expect from one tea bag? Should I keep using it until the water remains clear?

2 cups at most. that is stretching it. I usually use a fresh tea bag for each cup

I've been told you should do one quick brew and drink the second brew. I think this depends on the quality of the tea though.

I use a 2 cup Anchor Hocking measuring glass, so first brew is 2 cups. Two more cups of microwaved water still produces color. Fifth cup of room temperature water barely discolored the water.

Waste the first brew? That seems like wasting the main output of flavonols or whatever it's called.

What I have is the Ito En collab w/Costco and I think Ito En uses the best leaves from Japan where there's a youtube vid from NHK World showing the super finely maintained common tea growing hill where I think multiple producers share and they have automated fans to keep the bushes a certain temperature.

I read somewhere the made in China tea is grown over a landfill or some crazy shit.

This is what a friend told me who's super into tea and gets all these fancy teas from China. She's not Chinese but apparently that's what the Chinese do. It seems weird to me too. I do two brews and drink both of them.

I'd avoid drinking any landfill dust shit too in first brew.

I suspect Japanese tea is washed during the normal process of processing. Could have swore a video showed them cooking the leaves in some common shared barrel machine.

Damn some of you are really into tea, first brew second brew landfills washing tea leaves.
I just buy tea bags in bulk from an Asian store and drink it, they are dirt cheap buying in bulk so I don't feel a need to recycle a bag.

Here's a question, do you all steep the tea bag for a certain amount of time then take it out? I leave the tea bag in the cup the entire time I'm drinking it.

If you be buying dirt cheap tea, you should treat it like it's puddle water and heat it super hot for long time as if it's contaminated.

I microwave in the Anchor Hocking measuring glass for maybe 2 minutes and put the tea bag there and drink it when it's cool enough. I don't keep a separate saucer for the tea bag.

Recently got back into the habit of drinking tea every morning to boost my immune system.
