It'd be nice to see him win.
I heard he's fighting the winner of GSP/Diaz next.
He's 1-4 since joining the UFC & the win was a pretty shitty decision IMO.
Is he still under contract? If so, why?
It's pretty clear to me he isn't UFC caliber at all, time to go back to Japan & beat up lesser competition.
I don't get it... seriously.
I know he tore his acl a while back but have heard he is training 4hrs/day now.
It'd be nice to see him fight again at 170.
Any updates?
Akiyama asks for tough opponents and comes to fight. 3 FOTN performances and is Japanese. He has been competition in every fight besides Belfort.
Signed bouts contracts to face Belcher, Wand, Leben, Belfort, Sonnen, Marquardt, Shields, and Bisping. (Sonnen legal issues, Marquardt national disaster in Japan)
I understand that & I agree completely that he takes tough fights and gives his best but he's been a complete failure in the UFC. 1-4 w/ a shady win isn't UFC material IMO.
