I know he tore his acl a while back but have heard he is training 4hrs/day now. It'd be nice to see him fight again at 170. Any updates?
He's 1-4 since joining the UFC & the win was a pretty shitty decision IMO. Is he still under contract? If so, why? It's pretty clear to me he isn't UFC caliber at all, time to go back to Japan & beat up lesser competition.
If he's really training four hours a day then I think it's a safe bet he'll be on the Japan card. I hope they give him a winnable fight, IMO Ludwig, Thiago, or Miller would all be good fights for him.
Akiyama asks for tough opponents and comes to fight. 3 FOTN performances and is Japanese. He has been competition in every fight besides Belfort. Signed bouts contracts to face Belcher, Wand, Leben, Belfort, Sonnen, Marquardt, Shields, and Bisping. (Sonnen legal issues, Marquardt national disaster in Japan)
Yeah man I found a good link http://www.google.com.au/search?sou...l=hp...0l5.0.0.0.2142...........0.1lSj7-Dob2U Looks messy but its what ya need man
I understand that & I agree completely that he takes tough fights and gives his best but he's been a complete failure in the UFC. 1-4 w/ a shady win isn't UFC material IMO.
f you take into consideration the bad judging in the Belcher fight (I scored it for Alan too) then you have to take into consideration the Shields fight too.
Just give him a winnable fight, please. I thought the shields fight was much closer than I ever thought it would be. But I think that says a ton more about Shields than Sexy. Have him fight PAPY ABEDI.
So, he takes loses to the absolute top of the heap UFC guys and he isn't UFC caliber? The reason he is still around is because he is very marketable.
