Not sure if I'm fully accurate here but I think Valentina did judo early too while her sister went full into muay Thai. That might make a big difference in their success in mma. Seems like Valentinas style fits much better for mma.

Val was Muay Thai champ too though.

That might be true. I think there definitely are fighters coming from a striking base that never really fall in love with the grappling. And vice versa too.
