Media Anthony Smith: Jon Jones is very beatable

He's beatable but not for the reason he says. HW and big LHW take away the size advantages that he relies on. He's also getting old and slow, no wrestling, etc. In his prime he was not very beatable although some came close.

Anthony is a bit delusional himself. Someone should remind him of all his losses. His skill set is vastly inferior to Jon's.
Aside from his skills not being there his accountability of himself is a big reason he will never get the title. He gave no credit to Glover and said that he just put in too much output and gassed but thought he'd beat him if he didn't do that. Against Ankalaev he said he was winning before the injury. Jones was beating him comfortably yet he could beat him in every aspect aside from wrestling. Idk what excuse he made against Rakic but I'm sure there was one.

At least in his prime, staying in boxing range against Jones was a huge chore in and of itself, let alone landing punches of significance at volume.

His wrestling/clinch + distance striking ability (aided by his length and frame) was a deadly combination and was super hard to navigate in terms of managing distance effectively.

That's not quite the case nowadays with reduced wrestling, and a relative lack of KO power (relatively speaking) striking.

I'll be interested to see what he has left in the tank and what impact the extra muscle mass provides.

i liked the breakdown until he started to compare himself with jones.
i do agree that jon is not the best in any specific aspect but he is one of the best to ever do it when its all combined (that is why its called mma :))

“But if you take his boxing, if Jon and I were to just box, I don’t think he’s the G.O.A.T. Like I think we have a very competitive striking match. If we’re just doing no-gi jiu-jitsu, like I don’t think Jon Jones beats me in a jiu-jitsu match. Wrestling, he probably wins that. But it’s not the individual skill set that he has, it’s the way he puts it together.”

You'd be surprised , Anthony

he didnt milk an illegal move vs Jon but other than that he was least threat out of maybe all the challengers he faced

Jon is beatable, Ankalaev is beatable and he lost to both. Talks way too much considering his last performances, before the Ankalaev fight he was more interested in talking about Jan, lol.

'very beatable" by who?

Machida vs Jones. Striking was not going too well

Then caught him with one of his other "above average" weapons.

Good and well rounded and not lacking anywhere may be why he is not "very beatable"

Otherwise I guess I can see the point but is not this the point of MMA in the first place?

he's very beatable NOW, but that wasn't always the case and the reason he's beatable now has nothing to do with his skill set. this guy is a dummy.

Anthony Smith is mostly right here.

People shouldn't even be upset, he's just stating the obvious.

I don't agree with every detail, but the main premise is correct.

This
I watched him talk.
He didn't choose his best words, though.

I think it's time for a rematch lol. Not that Smith didn't embarrased himself in the first fight.

So if you set a rule before the fight that both fighters could only use one discipline, and that discipline wasn't wrestling, Anthony Smith might beat Jon Jones.

So Jones is only marginally better at those things, but I seem to remember him beating Anthony Smith like the red headed step child in a completely uncompetitive fight. He’s beatable because of father time, not because he isn’t good at all those things. Jones is arguably the best striker of all time at LHW, the best MMA wrestler and grappler of all time at LHW. He also has extremely high fight IQ and has never lost a 5th round.

Swing and a miss from Smith on this one.
Agree with everything but him even being close to best LHW striker of all time. He wouldn't even make my top 5, ok maybe 5, but 1-4? No way.

I wanna see Smith vs the Tweaker Home Invader run it back in Smith's family room on a fight night card. >f he wins that I'd say let him rematch Jones again. Smith vs the Tweaker was a draw in my opinion, I actually would say the Tweaker took it. But he left it up to the judges, which you never want to do. UFC or Federal judges.

This fucking guy again. If he’s beatable and not that good, then what does that make you..? Oh that’s right a smug journeyman bum with a 50/50 record. Jones toyed with Smith in that fight.

To be fair, out of all the fighters that fought Jon (outside of Matt H) Anthony Smith has had the clearest path to victory from that dq'able knee. So Smith knows he is very beatable.

Kind of a weird statement: "He's not that good if you take away the things he's good at..."

Jon Jones steroids check long reach check eye pokes check when in trouble just run check use every unethical tactics to win check. Yes Jon Jones is the goat!
