Media Anthony Smith: Jon Jones is very beatable

As far as Jones, the record speaks for itself.
Listening to Smith talk about his injuries makes me wonder how Dana sleeps at night with the percentage he pays fighters - disgraceful.

He's very beatable. Unless you turtle up like me. He's beatable if you don't curl up in the fetal position like I did.

Jon Jones is beatable, very beatable,” Smith told Morning Kombat. “He’s not that good. Not individually. If you take his individual skill sets and you take them away, each one of those things are not a problem. It’s when you put them together, and he puts it into the full package it’s the problem. His fight IQ is not crazy high. He’s well-coached and he does what he’s told, very, very well. And that’s a credit to him. I’m not saying it as a negative, I don’t think it’s a negative. He’s a dog for sure.

“But if you take his boxing, if Jon and I were to just box, I don’t think he’s the G.O.A.T. Like I think we have a very competitive striking match. If we’re just doing no-gi jiu-jitsu, like I don’t think Jon Jones beats me in a jiu-jitsu match. Wrestling, he probably wins that. But it’s not the individual skill set that he has, it’s the way he puts it together.”

Yeah this dude is annoying, he thinks he's better than he is. He's also constantly whining about not being respected, yet he says shit like this about other fighters. He said similar about Magomed Ankalaev and he got absolutely son'd. Then he went on to bitch about it and make excuses on the Bisping podcast. Dude has zero self awareness.

I guess nobody understood you were being tongue in cheek.

It's the whole picture man, read the rest of this post.
Smith turtled up multiple times on the ground: Ankalaev, Glover, Racik, and Jones. But he's some black belt jits?

So Jones is only marginally better at those things, but I seem to remember him beating Anthony Smith like the red headed step child in a completely uncompetitive fight. He’s beatable because of father time, not because he isn’t good at all those things. Jones is arguably the best striker of all time at LHW, the best MMA wrestler and grappler of all time at LHW. He also has extremely high fight IQ and has never lost a 5th round.

Swing and a miss from Smith on this one.

anthony just has too much ego. people have been writing him off forever, probably even before the ufc signing. unfortunately sometimes hard work and doing the right thing isn't enough to overcome a fighter who won the genetic lottery. DC vs Jones is a prime example.

Jones had a two point deduction for kneeing him when he had a hand on the mat, and STILL beat him 48-45, 48-44, 48-43.

I'm not sure about that. I think Jones works a LOT harder than people realize. I don't know him personally, but one of my very good friends is one of HIS very good friends, trained with him at Jackson Wink, so I've heard some stories that don't make it out of the training room.
Also think about the fact that he grew up with two gigantic brothers, both NFL studs, and his older brother was 2 time HW high school champ in wrestling. Not many people of Jon's stature have that type of opportunity. He learned how to handle someone bigger and stronger than he was. Probably got his ass whipped a LOT. No one his own size is going to be able to duplicate that.

Oh okay. Why doesn't Anthony Smith learn to be average in all areas of fighting and then stick to a game plan if it's that easy

Well, not by you, thats for sure.

And his fight IQ is not high? What are you talking about Anthony. I think that home invader knocked some braincells lose.

Either the home invader or the 17 losses.
