News Anthony Pettis got destroyed AGAIN tonight in PFL

Pettis peaked 8 years ago. His style was based around speed, reflexes and unpredictability and doesn't age well. He's 34 and has been fighting since he was at least 19. He hasn't been relevant in years. Yes, he had a hail mary superpunch win vs. Wonderboy. That was the same thing as an ancient Tito beating Bader. It happens occasionally. The same idiots saying Pettis is representative of current elite LWs or WWs are the ones who said 31-year old Gilbert Melendez was "too old" when he came to the UFC and excused his huge string of losses.

I mean the last accusation I want to make is USADA era.

But what is it with Pettis?

Mental block? Bad training? He's not exactly old.

His drop off is akin to Weidman's and 70% up there with Hendricks.
  1. He's 34 and has been fighting since he was a kid.
  2. His style doesn't age well.
  3. There's never been a UFC champ at LW or below older than 33

What is this PFL you losers keep talking about? Is this the new pride or some shit? And when did Pettis get cut? Didn't he just fight Cerrone and some other dude and win?

Very good points.

Also granted he lost to Guida I think.
And that was near his "prime"

I think he's just very hot and cold.

As time goes by it seems to be just cold.

Bruh is getting his lunch money taken by some random dude named Raush.

<{Heymansnicker}>

That’s the nail in the coffin right there for the former UFC LW champion yikes
I think destroyed is a bit of an exaggeration. Close split decision loss against a guy who wouldn’t quit kicking him in the balls.

He stiffened "GOAT striker Wonderboy" just 2 years ago lmaoooo

WW absolutely sucks right now and has for a few years
Yeah, who would you take in the rematch and trilogy? Did you take Uriah Hall over Mousasi in the rematch?

In MMA this shit happens, this isn't basketball or soccer where the best team wins 98% of the time. In fist fights, guys can get caught and lose even if they're the better fighter.

Guy is creeping up on 35 and was known for a very young style of fighting. Could just be his time for the decline to take it's toll. Dosen't seem to have that confidence anymore.

That heavyweight Jamelle Jones had some of the most powerful hammer fists I ever seen.

And Pettis is washed up sadly.

Pettis was shot since the RDA fight. Truly remarkable that someone with his fight IQ and poor tactics got so many wins strictly off of dangerous weapons. His footwork is legendarily bad.

He used to be so good. He seems to fold whenever he’s not the bully. Never responds well to pressure. Whether that’s stubborn training or a mental flaw, who knows. He fell hard tho.

He got caught believing his own hype. That beating RDA gave him traumatized him. He never recovered from it. He's done done.
Post usada rda and pettis both look like shit. Rda's body and cardio look like shit. Nate destroys him in a rematch. Rda aint even touching ww anymore

Yep, and it also comes down to "styles make fights." Like you said, Guida beat him in his prime, but for some reason Pettis had Bendo's number. Pressure fighters (both wrestlers and aggressive strikers with good chins) have always been Pettis' hardest fights.

That’s probably worse than Ben Askren losing to Jake Paul in 90 seconds. Pettis is awful.

Definitely not USADA, there’s only same day testing at PFL, so way less strict drug testing in PFL. If it was because of USADA he would probably be doing better now.

Honestly I just think he’s lost his drive and every fighter starts to decline eventually. Drugs however make fighters have much longer careers or primes. This doesn’t seem to be the case for Pettis.

Remember when Duke Roufus was considered an elite MMA coach?

Speed and reflexs are the first thing to go on a fighter and obviously that's going to greatly impact a fighter like petits

How bad is the UFC WW division that shot Anthony Pettis has finish victories in the past few years over 2 top10 WWs who are both potentially 1 win away from a shot at Usman?
Well, the Wonderboy KO was pure luck, Pettis was being dominated. The other one, is it Chiesa? Is Chiesa even top 10? WW isn't great right now when you have guys like Masvidal and Edwards stinking in the rankings, but Colby/Usman/Wonderboy are all legit elite WWs, most likely also Burns. Getting lucky in a fight or two doesn't mean anything.
