*** Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou Aftermath Discussion MEGA THREAD ***

It was absolutely controversial. Have you even seen it? You know Zhang scored a knockdown, right? And that Hrg was almost stopped?

I mean, just google the fight. All you'll see is people saying Zhang won.

isten I don't mind being wrong and admiring it everything is debatable...but in this case...yes I'm aware what many people wrote online even some reporters..they are clueless...have you seen the fight..so what is your argument? Have YOU seen the fight...The knockdown? I'm aware so what? Telling you again …7 rounds went 100% to Hrgović..i mean those 7 are completely clear (Hrgović won 8 or 9 rounds)..even with the knockdown that's a win for Hrgović it was an UD...do you know the rules.?.how boxing is scored?..so..there was no way that Zhang could have won that..HOOW? Tell me...tell me? What is controversal about it? Yes Hrgović looked bad..but clearly won...I mean have you seen the stats on punches landed on the rounds that Hrgović won..I mean 31-4..21-7..24-10..18-9..18-8..etc Zhang did nothing in those rounds..I mean wasn't even close...I am aware Hrgović looked weird and erratic...but by the way boxing is scored...there was nothing controversal about that win... Zhang - Parker is controversal because Zhang scored 2 knockdowns..and many rounds were uneventful without a clear winner..so could have gone either way...so it's controversal

He looked terrible. I did like how he said something like “even if I changed, the result would have probably been the same.” That’s owning your sh*t. I don’t recall ever hearing another fighter ever say that….

Indeed...but of course this is what will be lost on all the dummies who comment without even watching the clip lol

The fact that you state it wasn't controversial, means you aren't to be taken seriously. You either didn't watch the fight, didn't see the fan reaction to it, or you exist in a cave somewhere. It was absolutely not a "clear win".

Let me guess, you're Croatian?

Hrgovic, the highly regarded Croatian heavyweight contender, was able to defeat China’s Zhilei Zhang last month on the undercard of the Oleksandr Uysk vs. Anthony Joshua heavyweight title unification match (WBO, WBA, IBF) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, but many observers were conflicted about the verdict, with not a few claiming that Zhang deserved to have his hands raised.

The win turned out to be something of a let down for Hrgovic, who had previously been regarded in some circles as one of the most avoided fighters in the sport. Fighter after fighter pulled out of an IBF elimination bout involving Hrgovic, including Joseph Parker and Luis Ortiz. It as Zhang (24-1-1, 19 KOs) who decided to finally answer the bell against Hrgovic (15-0, 12 KOs).

How many of these do I need to post?

Two unbeaten 6-6 heavyweights faced off on the Usyk-Joshua 2 undercard in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Saturday, and coming in, the thinking was the younger man had the edge. Thirty year old Filip Hrgovic (243 pounds) entered at 14-0, while the 39 year old Chinese Zhang Zhilei native was 24-0-1 coming to this eliminator. After 12 rounds, I had Zhang up 3 or so rounds. But the judges said otherwise. 115-112, 115-112, 114-113, for Hrgovic, the arbiters said. There was some murmuring to indicate the displeasure with the call.

"Not controversial"

Twice in a row, Hrgovic has left fans wondering just how good he really is, this due to a, shall we say, less than impressive performance. Last August, Hrgovic, who was knocked down early in his fight with Zhilei Zhang and then went on to look pretty awful for long periods, laboured to a close decision win that went his way but was much debated.

He's 40+ yo, bet on himself and made a shit load of money. He should just take one or two MMA fights and retire.
Absolute legend.

Yeah I can believe it Sokoudjo was claiming to be 35 years old here in 2021, looks closer to 45.

He's officially still in his 30s now.
He looks like he’s the same age as George Foreman. Could be his body double at this point.

Joshua is a great sport and Francis was very gracious after defeat. That's how it should be. Say what you want, but Ngannou got them $$$$ and is setting himself up nice for the rest of his life. Came blame him for that. Hopefully he'll get his MMA career restarted and have a nice run before hanging it up.

Francis outweighed AJ by 20 pounds of muscle.

Yea! Surprisingly.

But when they squared up, AJ made him look like a child.

You forget how incredible some of these boxers really are in terms of their physique. AJ looks like he was made in a lab. That 80" reach too.

I feel like he would be a prime candidate for the first superstar boxer to crossover into MMA. He has all the tools to do it. Just needs to spend a year in dagestan <45>

I'm not Croatian.. I agree that many people say it was controversal..that doesn't change the fact that it was a clear win and the judges scored an UD...I'm not the one to be taking serious?!you are talking like a troll...I'm the one talking about the fight all the time....listen pure maths.. Zhang had scored one knockdown..so he needed 6 rounds to win.... in wich universe could you score more than 5 rounds to Zhang in that fight!??...seems you only watched the highlights.. I mean Hrgović looked awful in a couple of rounds..like really awful..but that's it.. he lost those rounds...but won almost all the other rounds CLEARLY even if the fight was boring.., look at the stats they are too overwhelming in favour of Hrgovic...no judge would score that fight to Zhang...

Lmao, just like most Kickboxers after 30 going to MMA like Gokhan Saki. Kicks, knees and elbows would be a problem, let alone grappling. Some people learn grappling fast, some can be bad no matter what
By the time Saki came to mma he was past his sell by date and was way too past it as an athlete to train grappling proficiently.

Its actually disgusting what a Dana White brown noser company man Chael Sonnen is. DC to a somewhat lesser extent.

Yea! Surprisingly.

But when they squared up, AJ made him look like a child.

Maybe we saw two different people, Francis made aj look skinny. AJ had about 2 inches of height on him so he’s taller. But if you saw them at the weigh in, Francis was so much bigger and wider
