Saw it. Thought it was a very lackluster, by-the-numbers movie. At this point, it seems as if Marvel is just going through the motions. No effort.

4/10

ANT-MAN No. 1 With $58M; TRAINWRECK Laughs to $30.2M

Ant-Man-071915-Dragonlord.jpg

The North American box office was a mixed bag this weekend. While Amy Schumer's female-fueled R-rated comedy Trainwreck overperformed, Disney and Marvel's Ant-Man came in somewhat behind expectations with $58 million. While that's certainly not a shabby number, it marks the second-lowest debut for Marvel Studios since it went solo and launched its cinematic universe, beginning with Iron Man ($98.6 million) in May 2008. Only The Incredible Hulk opened lower ($55.4 million).

The opposite was true overseas, where Ant-Man earned $56.4 million from its first 37 markets, well ahead of the first Captain America and Thor. That puts Ant-Man's global bow at $114.4 million.

Costing $130 million to produce, Ant-Man easily claimed the top spot in North America ahead of holdover Minions, which took in $50.2 million in its second weekend for a domestic total of $216.7 million. Ant-Man, earning a promising A CinemaScore, is by the far the most comedic and family-friendly superhero film to to hit the big screen, vying with Illumination Entertainment and Universal's Minions for family love (indeed, Minions fell a hefty 57 percent).

Heading into the weekend, Ant-Man was expected to debut to $60 million-$65 million. As a way of comparison, the first Thor and Captain America installments both opened to roughly $65 million as Marvel went about launching new franchises featuring lesser-known superheroes. And last summer, Guardians of the Galaxy stunned in launching to $94.3 million domestically.

Box Office: 'Ant-Man' No. 1 With $58 Million; 'Trainwreck' Laughs to $30.2 Million

Update: Final numbers are in and Ant-Man earned $57.2 million for the 3-day weekend.

loved it. Always like Paul Rudd. Liked it more than thor, iron man, spider man etc.

Just got back from watching it. Loved the movie easily the funniest Marvel movie yet and yes even funnier the Guardians and Avengers. Paul Rudd was perfect casting for Scott Lang. Supporting cast was excellent too but I didn't like the dude who played Darren Cross. His ears annoyed me.

8/10 for me. Was highly entertaining, good CGI, nice easter eggs, and was cool to see an Avenger in there.

Didnt like this movie at all
It wasnt Thor 2 bad but it still sucked though
The first hour is boring as shit
You know its a bad movie when you get excited for that third rate ass hawk or whatever his name is to show up

I have the flu (AGAIN) so my hubby and daughter went without me.

He gave it a 90; she gave it a 96. They said it was hilarious.

I give it a 7 a fun enjoyable popcorm comedy heist movie. Don't see as being as fun on repeat viewing though.

A lot of guys are praising Michael Pena for being all types of awesome. I found him annoying and irrelevant to the story.

My 6 year old Daughter and I saw it last night and we both loved it. She laughed a lot and was amazed by how cool his shrinking thing looked. I might go see it again with friends.

Oh Antony you will be missed
