"his act is not working..."
"hes never going to be popular, no one cares about him"
"Hes trying to hard with his heel act"

etc. Do you people not get it? The very fact that you are talking about him, means its working. Is he cringe? Absolute fucking ly. But thats good. Negative attention is good attention. Every "Colby's act is stupid and wont work" thread gets 10+ pages. Do you STILL not get it?

Most of you will say Colby's act is fake and gay and you aren't interested, this and that. But I guarantee you, you wont take a smokebreak during his next fight....

Also guarantee you he will make 5x more money than the humble "genuine" fighters, and get many more titleshots. Colby is simply smarter than most fighters.

if you can rise above being offended by what he says you can appreciate that he isn't really serious and is just trying to crawl out of mediocrity and further his career. being around pro-wrestling he is doing it in one of the best ways he knows how.. becoming a giant heel.

I can't really criticize him as a person as I seriously doubt he is actually like this. If you want to criticize his approach to bettering his career then fair play I guess.

He will lose all momentum if he loses though, this type of gimmick puts alot of pressure to deliver imo.

Let's not kid ourselves here: Colby's name recognition both inside and outside the MMA bubble has grown tenfold. Nobody even knew who the guy was except for some hardcore fans who only knew him as a "boring wrestler" with great Div. 1 accolades. The amount of people Googling his name was identical to any of the grey prelim fighter masses of the UFC. And now?

Google trends for "Colby Covington" searches for a timespan of 1 year:

The concept of "all publicity is good publicity" seems to escape some people here, or perhaps their dislike for Colby is clouding their judgement. He just wants to get his name out there and get known - that alone is a net gain for him, and that's all that matters.
