Annoying sayings that are way over used in the ufc

I really dont think it's in the best interest of any organization to try to strong arm the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Organizations go by their will, not the other way around.

You might recall from WAAAAAAAAAAY back when Josh Barnett got busted for steroids following his win over Randy Couture at UFC 36.

UFC dropped him and his license to fight in Nevada was suspended for like a year and a half. PRIDE wanted to scoop up Barnett immediately. NSAC said if you want to hold an event in Las Vegas in the Future, you better abide by our judgement on fighters.

PRIDE a MUCH bigger organization than the UFC at the time, didn't sign Barnett until his suspension was up.

So yeah, don't try to move the 900 lb gorilla.
The UFC back in 2002 and the UFC now in 2023 are two different things entirely. If DW & WME wanted to get a specific governor elected or unelected they could do it. NSAC needs the UFC more than the UFC needs nevada at this point. Of course I am not saying they simply start dictating how it will be but they can certainly flex their muscles. Notice Steve Mazagatti no longer referees? Funny because I noticed him wearing white and black striped official shit and handling the 10 second clapper. I thought he would have been let go but I guess just demoted. The UFC doesn't get to run things but they sure as heck have some influence.

"Oh he's hurt!"
- Joe Rogan

Half the time, the fighter isn't showing any sign they are hurt

"meteoric rise"
The fact that educated "journalists" and professional commentators include this gem in their vernacular shows how lazy and unoriginal they can be at times.

As a wrestler, almost nothing is more cringe to me than "takedown accuracy" in MMA commentary. The UFC has even gotten fucking DC using that statistic (if you can even call it that). To clarify, takedowns are not "accurate" per se -- there isn't precision in takedowns so much as other intangibles. Calling takedown attempts "accurate" is the equivelant of calling a choke explosive or a parry powerful. You will never hear "takedown accuracy" in the world of wrestling (I'm not a judo guy, but you probably won't see it there either). If I'm wrong, I apologize for my stupid fucking rant.

I can vouch nothing like that is used or even said on Judo.

And agreed it's stupidly done.

Is/was Khabib 1/5 for takedowns in one sequence? He does a lot of chain wrestling. If he gives up on 4 techniques before he lands one? How does that work.

It should be based purely on takedown landing and only count as a missed takedown when fully at distance again.

You know how often id "shoot" with the end goal of just getting a clinch against the ropes (most of my fights were in rings)
A lot.

P.S. you're one of my favourite posters.

This saying also needs to go.. they're all in on it together. Classic blame shifting bs. smokescreen.
But it's going to stay since it's the truth.

If you don't like it, I'm sure the world will continue to spin.

Thanks mate, that means a lot, and yes you definitely get what I mean lmao Let me go tell Daniel Cormier that this sequence would net him like a 25% takedown accuracy haha

God it annoys me that so many of you here don't seem to understand that saying. The only way for a fighter to be the only one who has a say in who won is to close the fight out otherwise even with competent judges your performance is open to interpretation

So whats bugging you here....did you lose a buncha money on a guy who tried to coast or did one of your favorites come up short on a fight you thought he won ?

Yeah I lost thousands in Dogecoin betting on Petr Yan in his last 3 fights and I've been living on skid row ever since.
