Lol, that was your takeaway?It was actually one of those fights where the scorecard make it seem a lot closer than it actually was. Completely one sided fight where Poatan was frozen like a statue in fear after getting lit up in the boxing exchanges, that's why he "didn't let his hands go". Once his leg kick plan didn't work he knew he was fucked because Ank is the better boxer.
If Alex was tentative about any part of Ankalaev's game, it was the threat of a potential takedown, not losing exchanges on the feet. Keep pretending like Ankalaev spent half the fight leaning on him doing minimal damage. He was controlling the fight and pace, but he wasn't doing dick with it other than coasting to a point win. I'm going to have to watch the fight again, because I don't even recall Alex trying to spam low kicks throughout the fight, but something was very off.
We'll find out soon enough how the rematch plays out. I expect a different fight than last time.
