Just finished the first volume of Alita, the deluxe edition, so the second of the original nine volumes. Really like it so far. You read the sequels?
Also reading the first volume of Vinland Saga. Pretty sure I'm going to like this one a lot.
Is the Akira 35th anniversary edition hardcover? I already read that series (excellent) but would like to own it someday.
That's what I keep hearing. I'm just past that part, and so far the first few episodes following that arc don't seem very inspired. What exactly went so wrong?
Did anybody see the 4-episode Kenshin OVA prequel called Trust and Betrayal? I thought it was one of the best short series I've seen, quite different from the main series with basically no humor or other lighthearted moments.
I've heard there's also a 2-episode sequel that shows the ultimate conclusion to the series, since I guess the original anime didn't have a real ending, it just sort of stopped? That's what I've heard anyway. That OVA doesn't seem as well received, plus I still have the finish the main series first.
I also picked up the kenshin manga, maybe I will just stick to that and drop the adaptations.
My guy, I love Kon's work. He's the only major anime director whose entire body of work I've seen. Perfect Blue is one of my favorite movies.
Wow. I always thought I was the only one who had read Good Ending. Need to read that one again. The one-shot was amazing.
It’s gonna take a while for the anime to be started again. We only got like 40-50 chapters of material from where the anime ended.I'm up to Chimera Ant arc in Hunter x Hunter
It's brutal and I like it a lot.
It almost reminds me of a horror anime with so many kids and hunters getting wasted by these things
One thing I am upset about is the anime sets up a lot of stuff that never gets any payoff.
For example, a big part of Yorknew city was about Chrollo vs Hisoka and you don't get to see that fight in the anime because the anime ends before that fight happens.
Another fight you don't get to see is Gon vs Hisoka 2 because that fight hasn't even happened in the manga yet as far as I'm aware.
I feel like there should be another revive of the anime once all that shit gets finished.
Right now the anime is incomplete because the story is incomplete
Thanks for the heads up.Peerless Dad is back.
Well, it's become very clear to me now why I did so little new reading last year. In the last two weeks I have tried approximately 40 new series. I have actually enjoyed...three of them (Peerless Dad, Solo Leveling, Undead Adventurer (Nozomanu Fushi no Boukensha) and all of those were ones that had been recommended here at some point within the last year.
Oh, and Goblin Slayer: Year One is garbage. All the stuff that people complain about in GS that I tend to think is over-stated is absolutely a problem in this one. What a difference an artist makes.
Konosuba- Woof, this is just not for me. Remember me mentioning tone (of course you did, it was like five lines ago)? Well, this is a great example of what I don't like about Japanese humor: it's almost entirely slapstick and buffoonery. Something can be funny without the need for crazy faces and borderline retarded behavior. Hard pass on this one.
Probably a generation gap.Rewatching Kuroko No Basket... i'm still loving this series!
Probably a generation gap.
This was my shit:

Two of my favorite weekly series are on break. Tower of God is off until March for the author to take a break from the weekly grind (he's almost never missed an upload in the ~7 years I've been reading, and most chapters are very content heavy) and to plot out the next couple years worth of content. This Hell Train arc that just finished today started waaayyyyy back at the end of 2014. SIU does't dick around when it comes to having a plan.
The other series, Gosu, is on indefinite hiatus because one of the authors has cancer. Hoping he makes it through even if the series doesn't continue afterwards.
Is it me or is the new Sword Art Online Alicization booooooring as fuck?... the story and action are lame and the characters are absolutely forgettable.
It started off interesting, with the lore of the world, but yeah it's back to the same bland SAO.
