Next question Cage of Eden , what is the grade for that, just exploring option gents

Started months ago with it and didnt really come far with it. ( ~ 50chapters )the beginning was good but i heared from others in this thread it gets mediocre later on.

to much mangas to read. may continue it later.

It is by no standarts a great manga , but an F?

It wasnt Ryōtas smartest moment , but not really retarted. It took him like 2 trys to figure it out , and he even admited how he couldnt see something that simple.

I mean hes alone on a fucking island , then some weird timer in his bag explodes and some guy throws bombs at him which explodes on contact. Now try to find some clear mind. I would probably act the same.

It looks exactly like the bombs we saw in the game sequence. It has a counter on it. It exploded when the count was exhausted. It is not possible for it to have been any more obvious. And I think that is an example of bad writing. As readers, we should be right there with the characters as they learn/grow/make discovers, not shouting "it's a time-bomb you dipshit!" at them. Also, there is no drama in throwing a just introduced character into a life or death situation so I won't be invested enough in their fate yet to be able to ignore what I see as a technical writing error.

Also, it's been quite a while since I've posted how I choose my review scores, so here's the basic criteria:
[A+] - True excellence or something that really speaks to me. Often genre defining and is used as the standard that all similar series are compared to.
[A] - An all around very good piece. Flaws here tend to be a matter of personal taste, and not the technical type.
[B] - Enjoyable read, but it has issues that keep it from greatness. A lot of pop-corn type pieces will get B ratings: they are enjoyable, but there isn't much depth.
[C] - These tend to be mediocre series that are cliche or derivative, or when something has a lot of potential but gets crushed by a significant problem. This is also where I put things that aren't necessarily out-and-out bad but where my interest in them tapers off after a few volumes (often due to repetitiveness).
[F] - These are the types of things that, for whatever reason, I can barely finish a couple chapters of. This means that this rating can have a very wide range of series in it. Not everything that I give an F is out-and-out garbage. Often I'll hit a scene somewhere in the first volume that just really takes me out of the story and I'll have a "wait, what? that's...really fucking stupid..." moment. And if it was a series I was already on the fence about it'll usually be enough to make me quit reading right there.

Next question Cage of Eden , what is the grade for that, just exploring option gents

Are you looking for suggestions in a specific genre, or just generally looking for new stuff to read?

Maybe for you ( and me ) as manga readers its obvious that this are time bombs. because, guess what , its a manga and you expect that something like this happens.

But in an real life situation you wouldnt think: " OMFG , this are bombs so this must be JUST LIKE THE GAME i often play , for no reason ".

Why he couldnt remember anything is shown later on. ( so does the drama ).

After you rating i would give it a B or a C. Solid pop corn entertainment.

I'm watching Saint Seiya right now, it was slow at first, but I'm enjoying it. I'm on episode 42

It's extremely popular in other countries. It'd be popular here, too, if they aired it. Same with Ranma

In the US Saint Seiya and Ranma were pretty much only known amongst the otaku crowd that imported a lot of their anime. I know that the Saint Seiya spin off Ronin Warriors was given some air time here in the states, but not much else of the series.

Is the HSDK manga better than the anime?

The manga works real well. If you loved the anime, you owe it to yourself to read the Manga. The anime only covers about 1/5th of the content that has been brought up in the Manga.

Wait Ronin Warriors was a spin off of it ?? I may like it then since I fucking loved Ronin warriors

Need help with this anime I am thinking off - It appeared on the Sci Fi Channel in the Anime Saturday block in the early to mid 90s. Its about this guy that gets separated from his father/family early in his life because of some intergalactic threat , then when he comes of age he discovers he has a secret to defeating the villain like he is a savior or some shit, what stood out to me was this cook looking green guy that could fly kinda reminded me of Picolo from Dragon Ball z , for the life of me I can't place my finger on what this anime was called. I'm pretty sure it was a stand alone movie.

Kind sounds a lot like Martian Successor Nadesico, but I don't remember any flying cooks.

I don't think it's Nadesico. There aren't any aliens like that.

Eh a little bit of both , kinda undecided

This is sort of a "greatist hits" list for what I read last year. It might give you some ideas.

Action/Adventure
Ares - Complete - [A] - I really liked this series, but the art takes some getting used to and can be confusing during some of the action scenes. Some of the storylines are pretty brutal, but the art isn't particularly graphic for a series focused on war.
Peace Maker - Ongoing - [A-] - This series uses a fictional setting with some minor supernatural elements, but has technology that you'd expect circa 1915 (early Fords and Harley Davidson vehicles, the titular Colt Peace Maker, etc) . The story revolves around gun dueling and a conspiracy that the main character inadvertently gets sucked into. The action scenes are really well done and some of the characters are quite charismatic.
Psyren - Complete - [A-] - A very solid supernatural action shonen. It doesn't reinvent the genre by any stretch of the imagination, but every aspect of the series is competently executed. One thing that I really liked is that it is one continuous story: it isn't broken into arcs and it doesn't get dragged on longer than necessary to tell it's story.
Tower of God - Ongoing - [A] - I'd compare this Naver webcomic with Hunter X Hunter, only with better writing. I really enjoyed this piece. Well written, fun characters, and very well rendered color artwork. My only complaint is that in the second season (after a time-skip) almost all of the established characters are dumped. It was appropriate for where the author took the plot, and the old group of characters will be seen again, but it was frustrating to feel like you were starting all over again (which was kind of the point the author was going for, but still: frustrating).

Comedy/Romance/Slice of Life
Again!! - Ongoing - [A] - This one really surprised me. Based on the synopsis and genre tags I wasn't expecting much, but I actually liked this quite a bit. It has a different premise than your typical slice-of-life, it's really well drawn, and it feels more like a serious drama than the typical puff-piece.

Drama/Suspense/Mystery
Dangu - Complete - [A] - This is a korean piece with very good character artwork. It has a few problems that keep it from being an A+ (some of the action sequences are difficult to follow). I'll have to check around, but it appears the whole series hasn't been scanlated, which would be a shame.
Green Blood - Ongoing - [A] - The artwork in this series for the inanimate objects (houses, clothing, etc) is absolutely spectacular. The depth of texture is better than anything I think I've ever seen. The character artwork is also pretty good, but because of the style choices isn't as detailed. The setting of mid 19th century NYC is interesting, but the overall plot isn't groundbreaking.
Historie - Ongoing - [A+] - At first I was turned off by the art. There is something about it that doesn't sit right with me, but I have yet to figure out what the hell it is. However, the story and writing are truly superb. The characterizations are strong, and the author does a great job showing characters age and grow. Anybody who likes Vinland Saga or similar historical epics should love this series as well.
Me and the Devil Blues - Complete - [A] - Very interesting piece in a setting you never see in a manga (the deep south during the great depression). I hope more of it gets scanlated.
Ookami no Kuchi: Wolfsmund - Ongoing - [A-] - This series is focused on the mediavel period that lead to Switzerland becoming it's own thing. It's extremely bleak, but I'm a sucker for this kind of historical setting. The artwork is good and is done in a unique style.
REAL- Ongoing - [A+] - At first I didn't care for the story. A lot of it was focused on a character with seemingly no redeeming qualities. He was a dick. Bad shit happened to him. I didn't give a fuck. However, the series gets a lot of praise, so I stuck with it. Glad I did. It really grew on me and now I'm stuck with everybody else: why such a slow release schedule?!?!
Space Brothers - Ongoing - [A+] - Why is there not more of this? Seriously. It's very well written and the art, while not great, is decent enough not to drag it down. I want MOAR!

Fantasy
Shin Angyo Onshi - Complete - [A+] - I really liked this series. It is sort of along the lines of Berserk, but distinctly Korean. It starts a little slow and seemingly episodic but it grows into much more as the plot starts getting revealed. I would have liked another chapter for the climax, but overall I have very little to complain about for this series.
Shingeki no Kyojin - Ongoing - [B+] - I found the plot of this series to be interesting, and the artwork improves subtly and becomes a strength after the first dozen or so chapters. The biggest downside is that I find many of the characters to be pretty flat. They aren't necessarily uninteresting, just not developed much outside a core trait. That said, I'm still very interested to see how the series develops and am looking forward to reading more.

Martial Arts
Blood and Steel - Ongoing - [B+] - I really liked the artwork for this series. It has a black & white water-color feel that I've never seen from any other series that I've read. The plot is a very standard martial arts plot, and that prevents the series from making the most out of its unique artwork.
The God of High School - Ongoing - [A-] - In many ways this is a very typical battle series. There's a lot about it that isn't anything special, but the fights are typically very dynamically drawn and exciting. Normally, I'd give it a B or a B+. However, the series really makes the most out of its color format, and for that I bump it up to an A-.

Sci-Fi/Horror
Akumetsu - Complete - [B+] - A sci-fi-ish series with a huge focus on japanese politics. A lot of the message translates, but a lot of it doesn't. Some good parts, but it gets a bit tiring, almost like browsing a political forum.
Bio Meat - Complete - [B+] - The art is a bit funky, but it works well with the tone and just complete oddity that this series is. The biggest flaw is that it gets repetitive by the end (there are three arcs). Fans of survival horror should really like this one.
I am a Hero - Ongoing - [A-] - I don't like survival horror or zombies, but this series still manages to be very well drawn and has solid writing. Fans of the genre should love this series.
King of Thorns - Complete - [A-] - I liked the artwork, and overall the storytelling was decent. It suffers from a huge infodump in the middle that wasn't handled well. I also saw part of the ending reveal coming a mile away.
Mother Sarah - Complete - [A] - This post-apocalyptic story is quite unique in its storyline and main character. Some of the plot points have been done before, but its all well executed and portrays an angle that you don't see much in this kind of fiction.
Parasyte - Complete - [B+] - This series has a really odd tone. It is serious and violent and bizarre and funny all at the same time. Like Historie, the characterizations are excellent. My biggest problem is that the series stumbles about 2/3 of the way through and sort of wanders until the conclusion.
Planetes - Complete - [B+] - This series is one of the rare Hard Sci-Fi mangas I've read. I liked it, but there was just something keeping it from greatness, but I'll be damned if I can put my finger on exactly what that thing was.

Sports
Baby Steps - Ongoing - [A-] - This tennis series was better than I thought it would be. The first chapter is pretty weak, but it gets better as it goes along. It has a few flaws (the side characters aren't handled very well), but I like that the protagonist has to work hard and still loses against the better/more experienced characters.
Countach - Ongoing - [A] - I can't wait for more of this to be translated. It's like Initial D, only with adult protagonists and high-end sports cars instead of teens with tuner cars. The basic premise is outlandish (dude manages to get the titular Lamborghini Countach), but it's a fun read if you're a gear-head.
Glaucos - Complete - [A] - I hope the rest of this gets scanlated, because I want to read how it ends. This series about free-diving is more than the sum of its parts. I don't think it does any one thing great, but it does everything well and it does a very good job of gelling into a cohesive whole.
Over Drive - Ongoing - [A] - Another sports manga about a sport that I don't care about: cycling. Well drawn with a good mix of characters and strong pacing. Pretty good overall.
Ping Pong - Complete - [A] - The artwork takes a lot of getting used to. It's sort of scribbley and unstable looking, but the technique is solid. The story moves pretty quickly and I was engaged the whole time. Overall a good series.
