Television ANDOR Season 2 (Premieres April 22)

Tough crowd in here. You guys think the writing/production quality is worse than S1?

To me it feels consistent. Even the flow of the first 3 episodes is similar to S1 with an exciting open, slow build and then some SHTF stuff. I also read some episode recaps to help me unpack everything. There are lots of easter eggs in there.

I'll be surprised if this doesn't get even better after next week's episodes, but this feels like the Better Call Saul of the SW universe. We know how this ends but hopefully it continues to be well-crafted with some surprises thrown in.
Brah it was 3 episodes thst should of been 1. It was pretty meh for me man. Maybe because I had such low expectations of season 1 I thought this was better an it is.

Episode 1 down. Aside from the opening, everything is either a snoozer or cringey.

What the fuck is up with the Jar-jar Binks looking fella in the jungle? Most annoying voice and presence in all of SW. Fuck that guy, I hope he gets smoked in the worst possible way.

The 360 video screen sound stage or whatever doesn't look good. And I'm not even watching in HD.

And they managed to make a scripted TV meeting even more boring than an actual office meeting.

I thought that was the point. The banality of a bureaucratic staff meeting on the potential upcoming holocaust of a planet.

I'll give them time to cook. S1 didn't really pick up for me until the prison episode.

They made 3 episodes out of what should of been 1. Wasted 2 episodes in all on straight boring filler.

It basically was one episode. They were contracted for 12 but the producers wanted each 3-episode block to flow like a standard length movie portraying 1-year periods. The first block had the 4 storylines (Andor, Mothma, Dedra, Bix) happening concurrently over a few days but going forward, each 3-episode drop might jump around over a 1-year period.

Did you like S1? What you're calling "boring filler" is what made the payoffs f'ing awesome. They're doing characters and worldbuilding WAY more realistically than normal SW. The corporate meeting with infomercial, Dedra stressing over what to wear and then putting Mrs. Karn in her place, the bungling Rebels "negotiating" via paper, rock, scissors LMFAO. All of that was gold.

Of course this only works if the show is awesome. Slow burn "filler" is like showboating during a fight. It enhances the performance if you win. But if you lose then you just suck. So far my money is on S2 getting its hand raised.

So glad this has finally started. Hate that they are doing the week to week schtick. Finishing up Mr Robot this week but I'll need to wait a bit before rewatching season 1 since this is going to take a bit to fully come out.

Screw the haters, I thought it was great. A lot of buildup obviously, but session 1 was the same way. It all paid off then, and I have every confidence it will now.

Also, RIP to a real one

Watched the 3rd ep and too much time spent on the Star Wars foreign language and wedding ceremony. A huge staff must have spent months coming up with that and Mon Mothma must have spent months in intensive training for her techno rave dance scene.

No issues with The Volume if they used that.

Not to mention the minutes long slow dramatic title name animation opening scene. It was moving so slowly I thought my Disney+ app froze and was only playing audio which it has done before.

Loved the first 3 episodes. Others might have been bored with it but I was totally engaged with every scene. Reminds me of other shows that are slow-paced but moves with intentional purpose and an eye for details like Better Call Saul. Cassian's arc in the first 3 episodes was ironically the weakest of the bunch but still very entertaining and still better to most dramas out there.

It's possible they've walked it back, but they did SGT Mosk dirty if they don't give him some satisfaction in S2.

Dude was an S-tier platoon sergeant BFF. Picked up Karn by his bitch ass britches and had his back. Then left his job to wipe the snot and space Cocoa Puffs off Karn's face and take his stalker schoolboy crushing ass to Ferrix.

Then after shit goes down and Karn somehow gets the girl, Karn just abandons homie broken and fucked off in an alley?

+1

And agree Cassian's arc was the weakest. Was still very good but if I had to nitpick, they made it too easy for him to swoop in and save the day at the end. This in an experimental fighter that he couldn't fly upright a few hours earlier, and then he divebombs out of low planetary orbit to the exact required location and precisely blasts human-sized targets like Maverick behind the stick of an F-14.

I hope they show flashbacks to his training over the previous year. At the end of S1 he was a scrappy but raw street urchin but they seem to have jumped right into him being a cowboy astronaut billionaire racecar driver.

Karn broke the Bro Code. :(

I'd be down for a spin off where Mosk has left the Service, wanders into the wrong town somewhere and gets hassled by some asshole Stormtroopers who don't realise they're messing with the wrong guy... 😈

Here lies Linus Mosk, winner of the Preox-Morlana 5-year employee award, survivor of countless incursions behind hostile corporate bullshit. Killed for vagrancy in Jerkwater, Ghorman. :(

Died valiantly defending Imperial citizens in the planet destabilizing terrorist attack on Ghorman.

Never forget what the rebels did, they hate our Imperial freedoms.
