Television ANDOR Season 2 (Premieres April 22)

The most analog SW story is only one KK didn't screw up.

The good thing as well is that whilst I'm looking forward to this massively it doesnt really have the worry about it that some other big shows have as Season 1 already works very well as a stand alone.

The 2.5 year wait is over. 3-episode Andor S2 premiere drops tonight at 9 pm ET and my body is ready. Early reviews of the season are out but as expected it's just ambiguous clickbait and sack gargling. Hoping S2 wows me like S1 did.

  • People will compare this to Season 1 and many will wonder “Is it better?” or “Is it worse?” and all I can say is that it is neither. It is a perfect continuation of the first season. It is just as good. I have rarely seen such balance between seasons, and in some ways that’s how it should be. Most shows get worse. Some few get better. This feels like 12 more episodes of the exact same show.
  • I love how diversity is handled in Andor. Queer characters are just presented here as normal people. Their queerness is not emphasized. In an interview, Varada Sethu (who plays Cinta, who is in a romantic relationship with Vel) said about her character’s sexual identity: “I think the best thing about that part was that it wasn’t this huge deal, it was just normalised, nobody bats an eyelid.” This is show diversity in the show is treated writ large. There are black, brown and white characters. Straight and gay, man or woman. They are not treated any differently based on these traits. Their identities are based on what they do, who they fight for , Imperial or Rebel or only for themselves. The only exception here is Dedra, who faces extra challenges in her climb up the ISB ladder because she’s a woman, but this underscores the Empire’s authoritarian hierarchy more than anything.
  • Syril’s mother Eedy Karn (Kathryn Hunter) returns for Season 2 which is great because she’s just so wonderfully overbearing. We also get to see how a “normal” Imperial citizen is impacted by propaganda through her eyes.
  • There is at least one major recasting of a major Star Wars character in the show and I think it works great. No spoilers, though! You’ll have to wait and see for yourself.
  • Alan Tudyk’s K-2SO from Rogue One returns for some portions of this season, which is wonderful. You can never have too much K-2SO or Alan Tudyk.

Gah. I really wanna watch this but I think I'm gonna wait a couple of months and binge it.

I keep telling myself that I'm gonna pace myself and watch the episodes over the course of the next week, but who am I kidding? I'm probably gonna end up staying up late and watching it all in one sitting

I think they're dropping 3 episodes per week, so you only have to wait one month to binge the whole thing :)

Just finished the first 3 episodes. Very nice. Writing and production values are what we've come to expect from this show.

The TIE interceptor hijacking scene was most excellent. Those things must be tough as hell to crash into armored walls and rock cliffs without a scratch.

LMAO at Dedra and Syril living the domestic life in a luxury apartment and having Karn's mom over for dinner. This show rocks.

Mon's "boyfriend" Tay Kolma hilariously condemned to certain death via riding with asian female driver. Wow. Just wow.

Watched two of the three episodes because my internet is unreliable. Nothing great so far.

Honestly pretty meh. This might be case where Andor nothing was expected and was a pleasant suprise. Then we expect much but there really wasn't much there anyway and/or Disney KK ......gotta Disney KK. Hoping it gets better

Tough crowd in here. You guys think the writing/production quality is worse than S1?

To me it feels consistent. Even the flow of the first 3 episodes is similar to S1 with an exciting open, slow build and then SHTF. I also read some episode recaps to help me unpack everything. There are lots of easter eggs in there.

I'll be surprised if this doesn't get even better after next week's episodes, but this feels like the Better Call Saul of the SW universe. We know how this ends but hopefully it continues to be well-crafted with some surprises thrown in.

Episode 1 down. Aside from the opening, everything is either a snoozer or cringey.

What the fuck is up with the Jar-jar Binks looking fella in the jungle? Most annoying voice and presence in all of SW. Fuck that guy, I hope he gets smoked in the worst possible way.

The 360 video screen sound stage or whatever doesn't look good. And I'm not even watching in HD.

And they managed to make a scripted TV meeting even more boring than an actual office meeting.
